The Democrats’ Spider Hole
California Political Review ^ | December 17, 2003 | Bill Saracino

A scene in the movie Patton shows the 7th Army capturing the city of Syracuse (for those who went to public schools, Patton captures the Syracuse in Sicily, not upstate New York). The scene cuts to German headquarters where the commanding general hears the news and says, “damn”! Next, British General Montgomery hears the news and says, “damn”!

It was easy to imagine similar scenes at terrorist camps across the world and Democrat campaign offices across America when the news of Saddam Hussein’s capture broke Sunday. This is the latest in a string of reports bringing good news for America, which — given current Democrat Party politics — makes it the latest bit of bad news for them.

Led ever further left by Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Dashcle, and their cheering section in the major media, Democrats rely on bad news for America in order for good things to happen for them. This is loser politics, but clearly it is the politics adopted by all but one or two of their presidential candidates.

They’ve spent a year pounding President Bush on “his” economic recession (never mind that it started in the third quarter of 2000, when Mr. Monica Lewinsky was president). Now, not only has the economy clearly turned the corner, but is roaring ahead at record pace. Unemployment is down; the Dow Jones is up — again above 10,000; so Democrat hearts sink.

The president’s tax cuts are widely credited for last quarter’s eye-popping 8.5 percent GNP growth (3.5 percent is generally considered necessary for sustained economic growth). An interesting asterisk: this is the fastest growth in 20 years. Twenty years ago was 1983, which just happens to coincide with Ronald Reagan’s 1981 tax cut working through the economy. The only other period with economic growth that matches 2003 or 1983 was 1963, which was when JFK’s tax cut started to affect the economy. Unless you’re a liberal economist or a Democrat politician, these dots are easy to connect.

With their economy moaning drifting into irrelevancy, Democrats were counting on deterioration in Iraq. You’d never know it from the major media, but much of Iraq is doing just fine. Schools and shops are open, life is beginning to resemble something normal, and, compared to the recent past (more than 30 years of recent past), peace reigns: a mad ruler no longer sends his nation to war on its neighbors every five minutes, dissidents no longer are fed into shredders, rape no longer serves as a routine political tool, mass graves no longer answer political activism, and 12-year-old girls no longer fear attracting the eye of members of the fun-loving Hussein clan.

Democrat strategy is to ignore it all, noticing nothing but American casualties and any local turmoil that appears. We have now suffered about 200 dead since the official end of the war. At this rate, more Americans will have died on the streets of Oakland this year than in post-war Iraq. Haven’t seen this factoid on the network news? I’m shocked.

The pessimistic politics of Democrats’ far left base leaves no positive vision for America. How positive can you make the message: “internationally we won’t protect you; domestically we want more of your money”? This is an ultra-liberal ideological spider hole. The American Army routed Saddam from his hole. Next November American voters will route the Democrats from theirs. As the Prince of Denmark opines in Hamlet, “Tis a consummation devotedly to be wished.”

Should be interesting to observe which studio will produce the capture of Sodamn Insane and his rathole. Also, who will having the starring role and when will the movie be released? Liberal leftist writers in H'weirdo mimic political events since their creative thinking skills are seriously lacking.

The only other period with economic growth that matches 2003 or 1983 was 1963, which was when JFK’s tax cut started to affect the economy.

Is this actually accurately stated? I was of the understanding that the JFK tax-cut happened after his death.
