Damn That Wrangel. He has the temerity to ask important and substantive questions that would aid in the effort to define the insurrection in Iraq. Shocking treason that..

Actually, the consensus that -I've- heard is that it -has- been established that he was involved in coordinating the resistance. That actually surprises me, I didn't think he was, I thought he'd be too busy hiding ...

I wasn't sure, but I was setting up a straw-man argument. My point was that even if he wasn't coordinating resistance, knowing that for certain was better than supposing it. If one assumes something to be true and then finds out for certain that it isn't, instead of crying that it wasn't true it's better to recognize the value of knowing for certain.

On Hannity's radio show today, a military guy called in and Hannity, on his own volition, started talking about how people kept asking him why he didn't join up, since he's so gung-ho about other people fighting. The Chickenhawk accusation, in other words. I couldn't believe Hannity's response. First, he said that he's too old(41), and too fat to serve. Which doesn't explain why he never served when he was younger and could have volunteered.

Nobody would voluntarily serve in the military unless it was a calling or a vocation. I believe that most people would rather, given the choice, get a 9-to-5 job and build a family. I don't fault him for choosing to build a family and career over serving in the military during peacetime.

Second, and far worse, he actually said it wasn't necessary for him to serve because his father had served, and had once told him that he had served so Sean would never have to.

I think you misinterpret this sentiment. It was common for people at the time to say they were fighting the nazis so their children wouldn't have to, meaning if they (the "greatest" generation) don't do it, then who will? Hannity wasn't saying that he didn't have to serve because his family obligation to serve was paid by his father, he was saying that his father felt his service was helping create a safer world where his children won't have to serve.
