[history]
When Levelle Haynes received a telephone call early Thursday, he thought someone was trying to sell him something.
"This guy called, asked was I Dr. Levelle Haynes, and said he had something for me," Haynes said.
The guy, Ray "Bubba" Rhymes, wasn't trying to sell Haynes anything, but he did have something for Haynes - a wallet the retired University of Louisiana at Monroe professor lost more than 40 years ago.

My dad was one of the most honest people I know. I remember when he found a wallet at a flea market with about $70 dollars or so back in the early 1980's. He put an ad in the Houston paper to try and get it back to its rightful owner. No one ever claimed it. When he died in 1997 we went through his things and found the wallet with the $70 still inside.

Did I read correctly? They actually found the home office for DU? I'll bet their first reaction was "PU".

I couldn't believe it." Haynes said. "I remember the wallet being stolen, but I never figured I'd ever get it back." ..."I looked everywhere for it," he said. "I thought that maybe someone might take the two dollars, but the thought never crossed my mind that they'd take the whole thing." Unless I miss the professor's point, it sounds like he still thinks his wallet was stolen by a human, and not carried off by a rodent. One would think that finding the wallet-money and cards intact-would prove toanyone that no human took that wallet.

That last sentence should read,One would think that finding the wallet-money and cards intact inside a giant rat's nest -would prove to anyone that no human took that wallet.
