O'Reilly and Strom Thurmond's Grandson

Did anyone see this? I thought I had a low opinion of O'Reilly and that it really couldn't get lower, but the way he spoke about Strom to his Grandson who obviously had love and respect for him was outrageous. The Grandson, an African American Dr., was articulate and seemed very kind. The Dr. at the end made a point of saying that he's a Republican and supports the President and intends on voting for him again. O'Reilly will end up in the loony bin, he has such an inflated view of himself and his importance. Ironically, Limbaugh is often criticized because of his ego, which everyone who listens to him knows is a put on. O'Reilly is an egomaniac with an emphasis on maniac.

You two were outraged at the same time. LOL. Sorry I missed the show.

In recent months, the LESS I listen to O'reilly, the LESS I like him or his program or his commentaries.
The only thing bigger than O'reilly's mouth is his ego.
[I tend to turn his program off more frequently than I watch it.]

The man let his fame go to this head 3 years ago after his first (?) book was a hit. He became almost unbearable. I don't understand how his ratings are so high.

I saw it.
He needs his mouth washed out with soap!
And yes.
He was very disrespectful of Strom Thurmond and his precious grand-son.
And I was glad in the end, the grand-son said he was a Republican
and had been longer than his Grand-Dad.
He loved President Bush, voted for him and would again in the next election!
Also the man is also a Dr. I don't recall what kind.

Personally, I can't stand the guy anymore...but, he does get some things right once in a while. The segment just before (on Journalism) was a good one. I also like his position on danger of secularism in our society, as he routinely nails the ACLU. His problem, is that he is a closet moderate conservative who's afraid to be labeled as such and therefore bends over backwards to "appear" moderate to keep his audience. As much as he annoys me, I find myself checking back regularily.

Ditto, on what you said about O'Reilly!
To: Hildy
I saw the segment you refer to, and I couldn't agree more. O'Reilly's arrogance drowns out what he has to say. While I often agree with him in an ideological sense, I find him irritating and offensive in his grandiosity.

O'Reilly's galloping ego is the price some shanty Irish pay for entrance to les Grandes Soirees the uptowners throw.

Agreed. O'Reilly definitely let success go to his head and it has robbed him of credibility. Drudge busted him just the other day for exaggerating the sales of his book. He doesn't seem to understand that the way to deal with libs is to ignore them, not pitch hissy fits.

Somebody called Rush today on Open Line Friday and asked him what he thought about the O'Reilly/Drudge feud. Of course, Rush nailed it. O'Reilly isn't going to like it and I think it may be why O'Reilly opened his show the way he did. I never watch O'Reilly anymore, and this chance viewing just reminded me why.

O'reilly tends to believe more in opinion than in fact.
When the white proms in GA were a 'thing' last spring, O had a poll on his site. It didn't go in HIS favor, so he said it was skewed and invalidated because it got hacked. Actually, O didn't like the truth that the poll was heavily against his opinion, so he junked it.

O'Really's program would be OK if "he" didn't get in the way.

O'Reilly has responded to the left's criticism by becoming the caricature they had previously accused him of being. It is sad. I don't see him being able to recover his bearings.

I hadn't turned on O'Reilly for months. I did for this show. What did I see? I saw an egomaniac trying to force a fine dignified man into badmouthing Strom. O'Reilly failed miserably. I will never turn him on again! He has no class.
