You know, this thread has done more to make me fear for the future of the United States than almost anything else I've ever seen.

This is supposed to be a bastion of conservatism - politically astute people suggesting politically astute policies - and instead half of you posters are acting like it's no big deal if Bush goes ahead and offers illegal immigrants amnesty.

What does Bush have to do to finally get you to taking that Republicrat I.V. out of your veins?

Eventually, it'll be a credible alternative. But only if intelligent people wake up and actually decide to do something about it.

Like the television ad for Miller Brewing Co. says, "You can stand in like and take what they give you, or..."

I believe your fears are clearly based in a misunderstanding of what our position is and what Bush is proposing.

Bush is not for blanket amnesty for illegals. He's said that more than once.

He's for the hard-working, tax paying, contributing members of the illegal immigrant society getting a break. That's all.

Let's be reasonable about this. They are already part of our society..and they are not going to turn into terrorists because Bush has offered them amnesty. And if they possibly were illegal al Qaeda sleeper cells, they will now be on record and we will know who they are and where they are.
I think Bush is right on with this proposal.
