Was waiting for the first knee-jerk anti-French comment! Deep thinkin', from people who poured good wine onto the sidewalk and called the land of Lafayette "the enemy".

Richard Reid was on a flight out of Paris. Doesn't sound like they solved their security problems, does it?

Nothing knee-jerk about anti-French commentary. They're a good part of the reason that we had to go to Iraq in the first place.

And at least they didn't pour out good beer!

On the serious side, I do hope that they caught some of the culprits. I suspect that their motives had nothing to do with their admiration for the US though - they're simply covering their backside.

Some people resent the French because they can't pronounce all them French words on the menu at fancy restaurants

The real problem is Muslims in France

I am of French extraction, I feel comfortable saying that France is no longer the land of Lafayette.
It is the enemy.

But pouring out wine already purchased is stupid.
Drink it, pee on the French Embassy, and don't buy any more.

FRANCE BUILT IRAQ'S FIBER OPTIC NET.

FRANCE HAD MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR WEAPONS CONTRACTS WITH IRAQ.

FRANCE SUPPLIED IRAQ WITH URANIUM PROCESSING MATERIAL.

FRANCE WAS COMPLICITE WITH IRAQ IN SADDAM'S ATTEMPTS TO HIDE HIS WEAPONS PROGRAMS.

FRANCE OPPOSED THE REMOVAL OF SADDAM

FRANCE IS AN ENEMY.

SORRY TO SHOUT, BUT I THINK IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET THROUGH TO YOU!!!

Lafayette is dead. So is the France of his time. It's too bad, but it is true. I wish we had the France of Lafayette on our side, but we have the France of the socialists against us.

It's not particularly deep thinking to assume that France is our friend simply because Lafayette was our friend.

The first war that the United States had to fight after Independence was the Quasi-War with France: 1798 to 1801

For the record, France has some nice farmland and the sections of Med coastline that weren't despoiled by oil are known to be very nice.

But Lafayette fled France literally for his life, as any American francophile or francophobe, as the case may be, should know. The French, hmmpf!
