For 27 of his 29 years, Varrin Swearingen has called Fresno home. The World Airways pilot lives in a nice house near Chestnut and Nees avenues. He's a member of Northwest Church. His parents are here, as is his wife's stepmother.

It's not at all the land of [frozen] milk and honey, though it sure beats out a lot of alternatives. But their's a similar spinoff effort taking place in Idaho/Wyoming/Montana [they beat down the *open container* and speed limit laws there as their first priority, and will go after the seat belt laws in turn.]
But yep, after a half-dozen years in crime-rotten Memphis, I'm good to go for a change too, even if it is a chilly one. I'll be up around the North Conway/Crawford's Notch area; once you see the flag on my FR profile page change, look me up- or catch me at the Weirs Beach biker bash at Laconia- I've previously made it there about every 5 years; I should do a little better in the future.
Hey, you want on the FSP ping list too?

Nope. That's Vermont, and now Alaska, which essentially copied the Vermont law with a couple of refinements. But there's something similar being drafted for NH. Interestingly, when several of the NH police agencies began to oppose the idea, it was pointed out to them that if things were so safe that the citizens had no need of personal protection, reductions of 25% or so of the personnel in those departments could commence...and now they seem to be more supportive.
...so the little tykes can have their own .454 in case the reindeer bolts for the cheese.
Well, I figure a .444 or .45-70 leveraction should do the job nicely, or a good 12-gauge. My kid's favoured Lee-Enfield would probably work okay for him, and if a handgun is really called for [handy under a parka where it'll stay warm] I expect my .41 magnum would do.
An escaped reindeer is no joke; those antlers are sharp and dangerous. Many of the Lapp herders I saw in Finland were carrying Valmet assault rifle copies of the AK47, either for protection against wolves and feral dogs, or reindeer on the loose, particularly in rutting season. Interestingly, the 7,62x54r is not considered sufficiently powerful there for use as a *sporting* cartridge for taking moose/alg; a .338 or better is required.
Actually, all we need is a law against stupidity, that way all the idiots who can't think through an argument can be deported to, er, where did you say you live?
I used to live in New Hampshire; I know precisely what I'm dealing with, and I'm looking forward to it.

That's funny...I'm at the OTHER END of this hell-hole of a state. Pretty area (excepting the MOUNDS of roadside trash), but my wife and I can't stay in an area where the women think sex is "work". :-)
Yeah, like Hawaii?
Guilty of PBT again (Posting Before Thinking)...yes; please add me to that FSP list.
