For 27 of his 29 years, Varrin Swearingen has called Fresno home. The World Airways pilot lives in a nice house near Chestnut and Nees avenues. He's a member of Northwest Church. His parents are here, as is his wife's stepmother.

I wish them luck ..... don't think I could leave California for New Hamphshire, though. Couldn't they find someplace a little warmer?

Dude, you can get stoned in Fresno, you don't have to go all the way to New Hampshire.

Already, the state has some built-in advantages: no motorcycle helmet laws and no sales or income tax. New Hampshire is the only U.S. state without a compulsory seat-belt law.

Resistance is futile...must join the movement...

"Sounds cultic, but best of luck to them."

Can you believe that statement.
"Freedom" & those who'd seek it has come to be viewed as "cult like" by the hordes of brainstems who're running amok.

The place sure has come a long way from when Robinson & Company first started [it] to where we stand today, Arch.

...maybe degraded would be a better description.

Couldn't they find someplace a little warmer?

Of the 10 final states from which the final vote was taken, NONE were in the south or southwest, largely due to the population density in those areas in which the 20,000 FSP signatories hope to make a serious impact.

Though Wyoming and Montana were also attractive- and Free West Project efforts continue there- NH does indeed offer a certain attraction aside from the weather:

NH State voter registration; September ’02 2001 (after list purge)

REPUBLICANS 245,791 (37.3%) 233,363 (36.9%)

UNDECLARED 242,028 (36.8%) 232,805 (36.8%)

DEMOCRATS 170,405 (25.9%) 167,062 (26.4%)

Dude, this is not about getting stoned. This is about an aversion to the nanny state philosophy prevalent in the rest of the country. Drug prohibition is now funding Al-Qaeda. What other successes can prohibition boast about besides jailing folks who have harmed no one but themselves? If your answer involves children, please spare your keyboard.

Well, I'd prefer their honest viewpoint, and if it does look that way, I'd say a lot of the blame falls on the press descriptions, taking their scripting from the usual Democratic Party hacks in many instances.

But it's not been the viewpoint of the porkyoines I've run across, probably more independent and less in lockstep than the *Eleventh Commandment* Republicans who forcefeed their GOP Koolaid to any of their own who deviate from their party line.

And given the numbers of troops now in Iraq who've been changing their Homes of Record to reflect New Hampshire as their home statre, I'd say we're in pretty fair company. Most of the press doesn't seem to care for them too much either.

I remember when a bunch of other people left California for freedom, only they all went to Guyana.

You betcha, includung a number of FReepers, some of whom are in process of moving alrerady, weather permitting.

And I found the prettiest little chunk of the Granite State with a back porch view of the Saco river. Though the wholesale FSP move won't be taking place until all 20,000 have signed on- of which more than a fourth have done so in just two years- I think it'll be worth going a little sooner than that and getting in some fishing.

Good luck aand Happy New Year.

'Preciate it! It should be an interesting year, in any event, and I'm hoping for slight improvements in things in the coming year and later ones to come, rather than any lightning strike sweeping away the decay and detrius- which did not occur overnight, after all.

It should be fun to watch, either as a participant or as a spectator. You're certainly invited, either way.

Looking at the voter registration rolls, NH does look very attractive but I've never lived anywhere except CA and all I can think is BRRRRR.

Don't count me out, I was in NH once in the fall. It was beautiful. I might consider buying a winter home in Arizona becore relocating to NH, tho.

You would. I prefer to recall the ones further back, who left Tennessee, Louisiana and other locales for a new home in Texas.

It didn't work out too swell for some of them either, but the ones who've hung on there have done okay.

Free State members are big on individual responsibility. That means no gun ownership restrictions and an elimination of drug laws.

Why stop there? Why have murder laws? Why put up stop signs. Responsible individuals should just not murder and stop when they need to.

This is 60's hippie commune-ism trickled down after three decades.

Nothing new under the sun.
