The crash occured at 4:44 AM German time. It did not show up on any German sites I was monitoring until 8:30 AM. I read about here on FR long before I saw it on a German site.
Does any one know if that is SOP?
Didn't the first reports say there was no indication from the plane that there was a problem?

A few years ago, Egyptian Jihadists opened fire on German tourists south of Cairo.(The name of the city escapes me)They killed 50+ people. It was right around the time Egyptair 990 crashed into the sea. There is speculation that it was a suicide act of the first officer, in the name of Jihad. Its sounds like Mr Mubarek had better be careful; he could wind up bleeding untidily like his predecessor, Sadat.

The flight had a problem on takeoff and tried to turn back when it crashed, Bussereau said during a press conference at Charles de Gaulle airportFirst I heard of this.

But how can they know? Ruling out terrorism within moments of the crash seems to prematurely, yet completely, remove the 'theory' from the investigation.

FoxNews still not mentioning this CRASH.
It's been over an hour and 15 minutes. I find this totally incredible (not)! This kind of (non)coverage is exactly what happened before when governments were getting their non-terror stories together. It's terrorism as sure as Vince did not die in the park.

sounds like a bomb. Not really. A bomb would turn the closest bodies into mist and the farthest into shrapnel bags.
A buddy of mine on the San Deigo FD told me that when the SouthWest 727 crashed in 79, the largest body part he saw was a 1/4 torso.
Seems that a heavy, upon impact of a crash, turns into a giant mixer.

"in the attempt to return to the airport at Scharm el Scheich"There isn't any indication in any other report, so far, that they tried to return to the same airport.

Other than a crashed plane....SO, ALL accidents, ALL failures of mechanical devices, and ANY human error is NOW attributable to 'terrorism'?

ALL products of an over-active imagination fueled by a never-ending litany of conspiracy theories offered up on the slimmest of 'evidence' and un-linked factors ... Two facts already discredit the official explanation: One, "not terrorism" was the official line from the moment the crash occurred. Second, false reports of "heavy fog" (which the plane would have been well above 7 miles out even if there was any) were planted in the media, and immediately discovered to contradict local weather reports.
France recently and famously banned headscarves in schools. There are now large protests against this policy in several cities in Moslem countries. And Tony Blair is or recently was vacationing near the crash site.

There isn't any indication in any other report, so far, that they tried to return to the same airport. That's why I posted it. "Die Welt" is a major newspaper.
I'm just translating the article. It doesn't necessarily mean that I'm convinced what they're saying is accurate.
