January 4, 2004 Clinton Relishing Role as Democrats' Adviser in Chief By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE
ASHINGTON, Jan. 3 He left office nearly three years ago, but Bill Clinton, the youngest ex-president in modern times, is still the go-to guy in Democratic politics.
All of the party's major candidates for president say they call on Mr. Clinton for advice. They say the former president always seems eager to talk politics, and one says the former president sometimes seems to relish the calls as an excuse not to work on his memoirs.
"He said to me once, `I shouldn't be spending this much time, I've got to be writing my book,' " this candidate said. "But if you get him at home or in the office and he's not traveling, he has the time. And he loves it."
The candidates said they were seeking advice on matters both tactical and substantive. As they tussle over the direction of the party, they are also consulting former Clinton aides to help flesh out their policy proposals. Robert E. Rubin, Mr. Clinton's treasury secretary, and Gene Sperling, a senior economic adviser in the Clinton White House, are particularly popular.

I can see why the Democrats keep going to him for advice...
First was the decisive victory of his successor...Al Gore.
Then there was his 2002 success in holding on to the Senate.
More recently his advice allowed California Governor Grey Davis to fend off a recall vote.
And, now, his handpicked candidate for the Democratic nomination for President, Wesley Clark, has surged ahead of HOward Dean and is on track to win in 2004.
Yep...ol' Slick Willie...I can see why he's the "go to guy" for the 'rats. Just look at...oh, wait, we AREN'T in "Bizarro World"?!?!

AACK! I admire Donna Reed's film work, but she was an anti-Vietnam war activist, and peacenik.

Yes - it taxes his brain to think up all the lies for his 'legacy'. So much for a one page book!!
He relishes anything that makes him feel important. He is so 'has been'. I think he knows most of us wish he would just go away and leave us alone.

What a surprise that a NYT womyn writer would write such a gushing article about her and NOW's hero, Bill Clinton.

This article inspires a lot of guffaws. Why would any candidate, for any office, seek out The Impeached One's advice after seeing the reults of the 2002 elections and the California recall? Seems all the candidates who sought his help LOST.
Secondly, his comment that 'I've got to be writing my book' is truly ridiculous. Any guesses as to how many ghost-writers he has on staff to write this pile of refuse?

BTW, I am still awaiting the next scandal involving him and a woman; I'm patient; he's never disappointed me yet. I would ask the political gods to deliver the good tidings right before the election though. :-)

Hmmm. Just saw Ron Brown's son on Fox...he is the finance officer of the DNC. Now why do I think that position was a pay-off to keep his mouth shut?
Either that or he's a hostage.
To: manic4organic
That's the problem with a cult of personality. It still goes on after the person has left. Dims still aren't allowed to even suggest Bubba might not be the most brilliant man in human history, much less do anything to remove his control by proxy of the DNC chairmanship. And the Bent One doesn't understand we can't go back to September 10. Sucks for them, but good for us.

He relishes anything that makes him feel important. This is so true. He is a narcissist. Everything is about HIMSELF. He has blinded himself to his real legacy, and I think he really believes many of his own lies. It's amazing that the other Dems seem to believe them too.

On what grounds did Paula Jones first sue Bill Clinton?I could be wrong, but I thought it was violation of her 14th amendment rights for equal protection and intention infliction of emotional distress.
