I knew you knew it...but the point is entirely that the Ruby Ridge affair cuts both ways. Bush Sr. had the opportunity to clean house of these killers, but did absolutely nothing about it. When enough time-in-grade passes in the Civil (sic) Service, the promotion process is functionally automatic, bar gross misconduct.

Therefore, since Bush Sr. did nothing, he's in exactly the same moral position as Bent Willy and his thugs. Was it gross misconduct (or worse)? Of course. But The Bent One has the perfect out on this, to wit, that he was merely letting the ordinary workings of gov't occur in accordance with the everyday rules in force.

Net bottom line: mentioning Ruby Ridge to discredit ol' Vacuum Nose scores no points.

It's too bad, but that's the way it is.
