I understand with what you are saying about the extremism on this forum.

But keep in mind, we did not advertise these Clinton/Hitler, Reno/Hitler threads to the public during an election cycle.

If we had, Clinton would have benefited greatly from it.

The libs can make those kinds of statements safely at places like DU, just like we do it here.

But once the Hitler comparisons go mainstream, it hurts the makers of the commercial more than the accused.

Don’t you think it would be a good idea to write letters to the editors of our local newspapers, mentioning the moveon.org connection to www.cpusa.org? There may be a bunch of dedicated democrats who are not privy to the internet and are willing to send a few bucks to moveon…not knowing what it actually represents. I have several die-hard yellow dog democrat relatives (older…in their 80’s) who will probably die voting for a democrat…unless I tell them that THE internet website that got Howard Dean started is also one of the main websites that is connected with the American communist party.

Sadly, Earl, I agree with you.

I just think once it gets to the point that we start down the path of having to compair people we disagree with to a Monster, with the blood of quite literally multi-millions on his hands, we've sunk far below the point of concievable return.

I've seen a bunch of "well, they do it" defences here, but it still comes back around to OK, well, they do it, and we're talking about how hate filled they are, but then in the SAME thread while discussing how hatefilled they are, we're doing EXACTLY the same thing.

It STOPS when both sides take their "hitler bullets" outta that political gun.

In short, When they do it They ARE Morons. When we do it, we ARE Morons.

The antiwar movement had PLENTY of President Bush as Hitler banners around the world and they never got rebuked. They also had plenty of communist (and PRO-STALIN) banners and yet the lamestream press said that conservatives/Republicans were overreacting calling the protestors "communists".
