But let's be honest: Do any of us know of anyone who wasn't, say, a cast member of "Bonanza" or an Iraqi who recently defended their homestead with a firearm?

An elderly lady at my church used a revolver to scare off some thugs that surrounded her vehicle at a stop light and accosted her.

But let's be honest: Do any of us think, on the basis of this article, that Mike Seate is anything but a limp-wristed moron?

Several women were outraged, not by the myth-making of guns but by their impracticality.

Guns don't make myths and they're only impractical in the hands of the ignorant.

I'll bet his injuries were a tad more serious.

He had no injuries. I wheeled around with the shotgun and he stopped short. I ordered him to drop the weapon and he wouldn't. I resolved right at that split second to shoot hiim if he didn't follow my next order. I ordered him to lie on the ground, and he complied -- still holding on to the weapon. He wouldn't give that up for some reason. I had one of the renters call 911.

I remember one very bad thing about that: A girl named Holly was in the firing zone. I had number 6 bird shot chambered, and she was behind the perp, watching. Just about every renter ran along to watch, it seemed. Holly was in the unfortunate position of being a berm should I have needed to fire. But I had no time to call out for her safety. I'm glad I was not forced to fire.

By the FBI's own statistics, guns are used for defensive purposes 2 million times per year, which is 4 times as often as they are used to commit crimes.

To this day I have no earthly idea. I suppose its the TV Shooting Syndrome, where you see the A-Team spray bullets everywhere and not one person has even a small bruise. It's as if the characters brought guns to scare people with the flash and the loud noise. People who watch enough of this drivel forget that guns can kill.
