The left's Hitler attack ads

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In 1964, President Lyndon Johnson, faced with a vigorous conservative challenge from Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater, resorted to the now-infamous "Daisy" television ad, which juxtaposed a little girl playing in a field of daisies with a nuclear mushroom cloud. Intended to suggest that Goldwater would launch the United States into nuclear war, the ad actually illustrated the desperate tactics liberals have always used to smear their conservative opponents.

The latest installment in their politics of personal destruction comes right on the heels of the aborted "Reagan" miniseries and represents a new low for American liberals. I'm referring to campaign ads comparing President George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler, which were submitted to MoveOn.org. The ads were part of a contest sponsored by the liberal website to see which of their fanatical readers could most creatively trash the president in a 30-second ad. Never mind that Bush's presidency has been dedicated to opposing evil tyrants like Saddam Hussein. In the deranged mentality of the MoveOn.org crowd, Saddam Hussein is a victim and President Bush is a Hitler.

It's worth recalling that MoveOn.org has its origin in the Clinton impeachment saga, when the organization was founded to defend Wild Bill's obstruction of justice and perjury. After endorsing Howard Dean's candidacy last year, MoveOn.org has earned a reputation for denouncing President Bush and conservatives at every opportunity -- and with increasing vitriol and irresponsibility.

The contest submissions, including two ads comparing Bush to Hitler, were posted on MoveOn.org's website, so that their rabid supporters could select a smaller group of ads for a judging panel composed of such Bush haters as Al Franken, Michael Moore and Janeane Garofalo.

One of the ads featured Hitler with his hand raised in salute, which then morphs into footage of President Bush raising his hand at his inauguration. Cries of "Sig Heil! Sig Heil!" are heard in the background of both images, as a sinister voice intones: "What were war crimes in 1945 is foreign policy in 2003." The second ad is equally offensive. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) called the ads' comparison of Bush to Hitler "vile and outrageous."

Validating my theory that being a liberal means never having to admit when you're wrong, MoveOn.org has steadfastly defended its anti-Bush contest, which informed contestants that their ad submissions were to be "really creative." Predictably, as hateful and vicious and repugnant as these ads are, none of the Democrat presidential candidates have condemned them, and none of the sensitivity police in the national media have pressed them to.

Though liberals are easily offended, none of the nine presidential candidates found anything sufficiently wrong with them to issue a denunciation along the lines of what Jack Rosen, president of the American Jewish Congress, wrote in The Wall Street Journal: "Comparing the commander in chief of a democratic nation to the murderous tyrant Hitler is not only historically specious, it is morally outrageous."

But the outrage of Democrats wishing to lead this country and their friends in the media is reserved only for conservatives. According to the media rulebook, it's OK for Hillary Rodham to demean Mahatma Gandhi as a "gas station attendant," but George W. Bush is condemned for addressing students at Bob Jones University. To the media, it's OK for liberals to compare President Bush to Hitler, but unacceptable for conservatives to censure Bill Clinton for obstruction of justice and perjury. Portraying Ronald Reagan as indifferent to the plight of AIDS patients is fair game, but the media will not tolerate conservative demands that Howard Dean provide proof for his claim that Bush knew of the terror attacks in advance of Sept. 11.

Because they are intellectually bankrupt and bereft of ideas for their own campaigns, Democrats are desperate to smear the president -- it is all that they have. Their vicious rhetoric proves it. Dick Gephardt calls Bush a "miserable failure"; Howard Dean calls the administration that is defeating terrorists "the most dangerous administration in my lifetime"; John Kerry and Wesley Clark have resorted to the vulgar vocabulary of gang members on the campaign trail.

With such constant venom spewing from the mouths of the so-called leaders of the liberal cause, is it any wonder that they have helped to create an environment in which the leader of the free world is compared to Hitler in a 30-second ad?

Hey, this is the way they operate, Mr. North is right. A few times poster's have posted links on this site to sites like moveon and DU, and I am totally shocked by the stuff they post - puts our puny little sitepests to shame! Can't believe some of the stuff I've seen, and the total illogicality (is that a word?) of their reasoning.

Comedy Central has brought the That's My Bush tapes out of the closet and is airing the series' reruns again.

I heard some radio "comedy" today from Barry Crimmens and others slamming President Bush as an "idiot" again.

They've got nothing and are desperate.

The Rats came out of the woodworks to rant on DU about how Bush IS like Hitler. The disgust from the Simon Weisenthal Center and the ADL, among others, is lost on them.

Another similarity to the "Daisy" ad... Daisy aired once and did it's job. MoveOn.org claims that it didn't rank highly and is out of the running.

People saw it and it propagated around the internet. People saw it.

Would they have permitted the XXX Paris Hilton video to remain online?

Hitler was a big government socialist. He was celebrated as a leftist elite. He disliked religious people. He used the occult extensibly throughout the nazi party. He believed in Charles Darwin's eugenics. That there was one superior race. Sounds like a far left retard to me.

"The Rats came out of the woodworks to rant on DU about how Bush IS like Hitler. The disgust from the Simon Weisenthal Center and the ADL, among others, is lost on them."

Somehow, cannot get myself to 'go there'. . .having taken a a painful walk through DU a year or two ago; but my question is. . .

Does/can anyone post the truth there (do not remember seeing anything resembling the truth when I visited).

Does/can anyone point out to these fools, just where the roots of 'their' hate/agendas/modus operandi comes from? Point out their, shared roots and idiology with that of Hitler.

From it's inception, the Left can only masquerade 'Good' while in truth, it is always projecting it's own evil face onto and into everything it sees.

Does anyone on DU hear or even recognize the truth of anything?

There is a lot of double speak and projection among those on the left (not just DU).

I had lefty radio (commercial free on the taxpayer's dime) on yesterday and heard a guest use the word "soverign nation" (as in "we ignore the UN and attacked a soverign nation"). Now this took one of the phrases that conservatives and libertarians have been using when discussing the UN (and legal discussions between Supreme Court judges and EU-officials). AMERICA IS A SOVERIGN NATION, this is why we don't need approval from others to act. We also don't have to pass a law here just because the rest of the world is doing so; our Supreme Court can't even make law (even their own precedents can be overturned by later SCOTUS judges as it has happened in the past). Our elected (and unelected) officials are limited in their powers by our Constitution. Our citizens have a list of rights that are protected.

To hear a lefty disregard our soverignty and tout Iraq's is a cover for his own power grab.

There are other buzzwords and cover phrases ("for the children" may be one of them, since many lefties are decidedly anti-family).

I don't expect evil ones to be honest about their intentions. An extreme reduction of the issue can be stated:

"Conservatives are mean while liberals are evil."

The "meanness" of conservativism is that there is a belief in people being accountable for their actions. There is no public "safety net".
- If you want to invest in insurance (health, life, home, flood, et al) to provide for bad times so be it.
- If you don't want to study and come out of school with a less than stellar high school education, you won't get very far in the job world but no one owes you a career.

(Some) Conservatives also believe in laws grounded in morality. Such legislation has been around since the founding of this country. The "meanies" won't let somone do something. If such laws were unconstitutional then they could not have existed in the first place. Argue about the support for a law but at least conservatives don't mask their viewpoints on morality.

Liberals on the otherhand are "evil" because they lie about their programs. Government knows best and socialism must be fed to the masses like bitter medicine.
- Since it won't go down easily, add some sugar to it to mask the problems (sweeten the deal for some members of society, "you won't pay a tax for this, the rich people will").
- An alternate method is to tell "the big lie" and scare people into supporting the liberal agenda ("Worst economy in 50 years!" "EVERYTHING that is down, should be UP, and everything that is UP should be DOWN!!!").

If someone won't be honest with you about facts, figures, and long term goals it makes you wonder what they are hiding.

Well, I said "From it's inception, the Left can only masquerade 'Good' while in truth, it is always projecting it's own evil face onto and into everything it sees."

and you said: "There is a lot of double speak and projection among those on the left (not just DU)". . .

. . .so we are on the same page there for sure. And probably more; but I do not have time to comment on some of your observations and I would like to. . .as I have to leave.

In the meantime, thanks for sharing some 'good thoughts' here on 'mean vs evil'. Will read more slowly later.
