[history]
January 10, 2004 -- DES MOINES, Iowa - Howard Dean was frantically eating his words yesterday on several fronts, as fallout from his gaffe-filled campaign threatened the Democratic front-runner in the final sprint to the first presidential vote. The normally confident Dean, slipping in polls in New Hampshire, came under fire for insulting his new pal Al Gore, finding "good" aspects to the Hamas terror group, and past cracks dissing Iowa's cherished presidential caucuses - which take place in eight days.

"I'm a little tired of the 'gotcha' politics of this campaign," Dean fumed
If God didn't want gotcha politics, he wouldn't have made gotcha politics.

The Clinton's are really slick. It's a wonder to watch.

Darn! I don't want all of this to come out just yet. Wait until Howie has the nomination wrapped up, then let it all come out.

Dean did get some good news yesterday with the endorsement of popular Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, who has a record of backing winners. Yup, popular, that's old "Dung" Harkin. Popular with Fidel and Saddam. And popular with his constituents.

Dean and Clark are two of a kind. They use their mouths more than their brains.

Its kind of unfortunate for us, despite how much fun it is to watch, that the Clintonistas controling the Dem party are bringing all this up now. I don't think dean will get the nomination, Clark will. Which is sad. I would have much preferred all this material stay in the can until dean got the nomination, then had it come out and walla! ... landslide.

And a Clark nomination would increase the number of far-left voters going to Ralph Nader or some other third-party candidate.
Which is why the Clintons want Clark to win the nomination. Because he can't win the general election, and they'll maintain their grip on the party controls.

The Clintons already have 40% of the delegates for the Rat convention, so they will control the party no matter who the nominee is.
But in true Clinton style, it'll be Hillary for the Rats in 2004. All it takes during the primaries is for 11% of the voters to write in The Ankle and it's a done deal. This is her only chance - Rudy will trounce her in 2006 for the Senate, and by 2008 her FBI files will have aged beyond their usefulness. No matter what it does to the Rats as a party, she'll be nominated by using the write-ins and the superdelegates. This should be fun to watch.

You are right that Clark wouldn't win, but neither would doctor demento. The Clinton's support for their toy soldier is all about maintaining control of the party apparatus...not dean's electability.
If Bush really were (or even becomes) beatable...Hillary! would be in the race in a heartbeat.

Yup.
B3...is that a keyboard reference? Great keyboard that...
Anyway, how do you know this 40% number ?
****
I agree with the analysis.
... even more likely if Dean survives his self inflicted gotchas long enough to be the frontrunner, meanwhile the weight of all of his gaffes will build...forcing widespread recognition in the Big D that he just won't get it done.
Thier capacity for denial is considerable though.
On another track...
Some good Freeper please infiltrate and expose
the coming stuffing of the Iowa vote by out of staters?
How hard would it be? Read at DU for the proper irrational hate filled lingo.
Wait until dean gets the nod to call 60 Minutes.

Gore has a good track record for attaching himself to losers. After he is used, they throw him away. What a dummy.

I'd always thought that 11B3 was a reference to being a relatively high-ranking (tier 3) enlisted infantryman (11B). I could well be wrong though.

I see no way that Dean will get the nomination. Even Carville doesn't like him...
