I didn't find this when I searched, but it may have been posted already. If so just pull the thread. But I thought it was worth seeing.

Man, I hope the Rules of Engagement were well established before this incident. Otherwise, the Apache crew might face serious ramifications as a result of the violation of the Geneva Convention. To whit:

(1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.

To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:

(a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;

(b) taking of hostages;

(c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment;

(d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.

(2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for.

The third individual was definitely wounded and incapacitated. Now all bets are off if the individual in question was classified as a terrorist or insurgent.

Why the USMC in the post?
They apparently aren't aware they fly Apaches.

Where is the full story on this? I see what appears to be a tractor with a trailer , a pickup truck, and a truck with a flat bed. there are 4 people there. No secondary explosions. This will make a great propaganda piece for Al Jeezera showing how we just like to kill arabs. At first it looked like a hot 122m mortar tube on the left but at close scrutiny it appears also to look like a tractor exhaust. We need the whole story here not just the video.

It looked like the attach helicopter was close by. Why couldn't the bad guys hear the sound of the helicopter? Are they that quiet?

I think this is like the rodney king video- i.e. this is not the whole clip. from other descriptions of the event, one of the guys apparently had a shoulder launched weapon of some sort, which he dumped before the helicopters started firing.

Have you seen that one video of a group of soldiers shooting a wounded combatant and cheering over it? The liberals like to harp on that one a lot.

"what appears to be a tractor with a trailer."

I'm sure that's a plow. I you'll notice the freshly turned earth gives off a lighter colored IR. I sure hope this is not a screw up on the crews part. I know we only see a few seconds, but it doesn't look good.

Yeah, I am. A good portion of the advanced course I went to concentrated on the Laws of War and the Geneva Convention. You should also read my post all the way to the bottom since I specifically stated that all bet are off if the targets were insurgents or terrorists. They fall under a different category and the ROEs can reflect their status as protected or not.

Yes, I saw this.

Let's look at compliance with the Geneva convention (or even the bloody UN) by Saddam... or by those attacking who are troops in Iraq, of late.

What part of Geneva Convention were the 911 attackers upholding?
