He'll want a trial by jury to determine if these are actually blister gas, and he'll look for mitigating circumstances, such as, these weapons had a rough childhood full of abuse. They aren't bad weapons. They're just misunderstood.

Blister gases, such as mustard gas, are used in chemical weapons.

They ARE chemical weapons. This writer needs to get a clue.

Buried at least 10 years means they'll say that Saddam "destroyed" them.

Maybe. There have been many "false alarms" however.

Saddam wanted to destroy them, he just lost these. < /Democrat spin >

But Hans Blix could have found them -- if only we had given him more time! < /more Democrat spin >

This is the second Iraq posting regarding WMD today.

But it's the same story. These weapons probably date back to the Iran/Iraq war, and it's hard to get overly excited about them. These would have been of no use against Americans or anyone else today.

debilitate infantry by causing the skin to break out in excruciatingly painful blisters.

How inoccuous this sounds, except for the fact that it causes lifetime deformity.

The Iran-Iraq war ended officially in 1988, but had wound down before then.

These weapons and the other WMD were more likely buried at the time Iraq wanted the sanctions against them lifted and the US was insisting on weapons inspections first.

They took the trouble to bury them rather than destroy them for the very reason that they were and would be still effective in the future.

I've never prepared blistered eggplants with mustard. I prefer eggplant parmiagiano.
