That's what you get for using Symantec products.

Stress makes you unable to spell BW-- really means BE careful

What should I be using instead???

Just make sure you have a fire wall installed, and if you really want to be safe switch from winxp win2k, to win98, winme, a mac, or linux.
Of course each one of those have drawbacks.
To be really safe don't compute.

and said thay deletedDeleted or cleaned? There is a difference. You might want to check your options and just 'clean' the infected files rather than delete them. Just an idea.

I recieved this email virus just today:
CONTENTS OF E-MAIL:
"I are terribly sorry to inform you, but by opening this e-mail, you have just received a "Computer Virus".
Since I do not have any programming experience, this virus works on a trust based system.
Please delete all the files from your hard drive immediately, and manually forward this virus to everyone on your mailing list.
Thank You!"
(scarey, huh?)

Yeah there is that, so firewall and make sure virus definitions are up to date, plus ad aware and spybot.
Might as well get rid of the spy ware while at it.

My favorite virus:
NEW VIRUS ALERT.....This is not one to trash...IMPORTANT that you read!
If you receive an email entitled "Badtimes," delete it immediately. Do not open it. Apparently this one is pretty nasty.
It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer.
It demagnetizes the stripes on ALL of your credit cards.
It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CDs you attempt to play.
It will re-calibrate your refrigerator's coolness settings so all your ice cream melts and your milk curdles.
It will program your phone autodial to call only your mother-in-law's number.
This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.
It will drink all your beer.
It will leave dirty socks on the coffee table when you are expecting company.
Its radioactive emissions will cause your toe jam and bellybutton fuzz (be honest, you have some) to migrate behind your ears.
It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine, all while dating your current boy/girlfriend behind your back and billing their hotel to your Visa card.
It will cause you to run with scissors and throw things in a way that is only fun until someone loses an eye.
It will give you Dutch Elm Disease and Tinea.
It will rewrite your backup files, changing all your active verbs to passive and incorporating undetectable misspellings which grossly change the of key sentences.
If the "Badtimes" message is opened in a WindowsXP environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub.
It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, but it will also refill your skim milk with whole milk.
It will replace all your luncheon meat with Spam.
It will molecularly rearrange your cologne or perfume, causing it to smell like dill pickles.
It is insidious and subtle. It is dangerous and terrifying to behold. It is also a rather interesting shade of mauve.
These are just a few signs of infection.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!

Don't forget to set a new restore point if you have WinXP or WinME and mark it that it was after you removed Blaster Worm. Also keep checking your system using your anti-virus software and things like Ad Aware and Spybot. Also go to some place like TUCOWs and get a good trojan hunter. Most allow a 30 day trial. You also might want to get a registry tool like Registry Mechanic from Winguides to clean the registry. Sometimes you can wind up with some other things at the same time. Also keep an eye on your network connections. Somehow I managed to get Beast 2.0 which is a trojan and a couple weeks after I got rid of it I happened to look in my network connections and found a new connection to a server at the Work Comp Bureau in Alaska. Neither the Trojan hunters or anything else I used detected this since it looked like a legit connection.

Okay---I don't know who you are, but you have perfectly described how I felt all day!
I'm going to go drink another beer--even if it's virus infected!!!
To: sissyjane
Here, have a piece of Sees candy to go with that beer. ;-)

Urgent notice to all men!
Just hope and pray that you don't get the new PMS virus.
It deletes all files on your hard drive except the ones it needs.
It takes control of your audio system so that your speakers blare out at max volume, "IF YOU DON'T GET RID OF ALL OF THIS CRAP I WILL!" It immediately deletes everything you have saved.

All of the below listed software is, as of this writing, freeware. Vendors who do have "Pro" versions of their software have the tendency to try to hide the link to the freeware version in the hopes that you'll click on the "Pro" versions. Make sure you get the freeware versions, which are adequate, unless of course, you want to pay for the "Pro" versions.
http://www.lavasoft.de or
http://www.lavasoftusa.com to download/install/update then run the freeware program named Adaware and rid your system of spyware. You'll have to update and run it occasionally but if Spyware Blaster, ( next item down, ) does its job then adaware may not find anything new to delete.
http://www.enigmasoftwaregroup.com/jump7.shtml to download/install/update and run. It is SpyBot Search and Destroy which is similar to Adaware. You'll have to update and run this program occasionally if Spyware Blaster doesn't do its job.
http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/ scroll down to the Spyware Blaster link, ( which is freeware, )/download/install and update it then run it to stop spyware from getting on your machine before the fact. You'll have to update and run it occasionally.
http://www.panicware.com for the freeware version of Pop-Up Stopper/download/install/tell it to start with windows.
http://www.grisoft.com for the freeware version of AVG anti-virus software/download/install/update and run a scan. You'll have to update and run it occasionally.
http://www.zonelabs.com for the freeware version of ZoneAlarm which is a software firewall. It will stop a lot of the intrusions into your system.
If you are running WinXP then you may want to consider disabling Windows Messenger Service, ( not to be confused with MSN Messenger Service, ) if you are not on a corporate network whereby the dreaded sys admin sends messages to work stations using Windows Messenger:
Right-click My Computer/click on Manage/click the plus sign, ( +, ) in front of Services and Applications/click Services/scroll down, if necessary and find Windows Messenger/right-click it/click on Properties/click the little down arrow to the right of the text box and click on Disable/click Apply/click the Stop button/Click Apply again, if necessary/click OK/at some point you may get a message telling you that you have to reboot/If you have already clicked on the Stop button then there is no need to reboot.
Hope this helps.
