Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) how he really thinks of gun owners!
Self | 1/14/04 | Richard Brengman (Harry Reid quote).

Posted on 01/14/2004 2:24:08 AM PST by Richard-SIA

The following is the transcript of a radio spot Harry Reid ran during his election battle agains John Ensign in 1998.

It insults gun owners and NRA members in particular. Now Harry is running for reelection, and claiming to be a friend of gun owners!

This spot exposes how he really feels about us.

------

“Stand Up” Harry Reid Radio Spot :60

Comedienne: Thank You.  Thank You, Folks.  You know me, John Ensign’s worst nightmare. (Laughs)

People ask me if I make up these Ensign quotes.  I tell them, I’m not that funny. (Laughs)

Okay, before I begin, do we have any crazed and violent criminals in the audience? (Claps)

Yeah, Yeah, Okay, Well, I’ve got great news for you, John Ensign thinks the assault weapons ban is a stupid and ineffective law. (Boos)

And you thought Charleton Heston was your only friend. (Claps)

When John Ensign was asked what was in a piece of legislation he was working on, he said, “I don’t know, I don’t read the bills.”  Maybe he’d prefer Shakespeare. (Laughs)

But let’s not be too hard on Ensign.  I mean he did say he gave up millions of dollars to run for Congress.  I guess he used to get a big, fat allowance to manage his father’s gambling casinos.  (Laughs)

“Thank you, Folks.  You’ve been a great audience.” (Claps)

Good stuff. I hope no-one's fooled by the Dems deciding to go quiet on RKBA. Hopefully the NRA's records can be used to remind gunowners of the facts?

Harry Reid has been out there a LONG time, catering to the California expatriate crowd that has swarmed into Nevada, after thoroughly muffing up California. He is also supposed to be a Mormon, but it is not logically possible to be the kind of Democrat that Harry Reid has shown himself to be, and a sincere practicing Mormon as well. I believe the term is jack-Mormon, that also describes those citizens of Salt Lake City that drive over to Wendover, for a Sunday afternoon of dabbling in the dark side, and drive back early Monday morning.

A few more folks get their news from the internet than did in '98;
it's going to be a little harder for Harry Reid to hide his true nature from the voters this time.

Are you aware that the cretins at the NRA have already endorsed Reid? Before he even has an opponent?

I am fully aware of the AP (Anon Press) article you are referring to.

You may consider this reply another expose on how Reid and his staff manipulate the media to create the false impression that he is universally supported by everyone!

I took the trouble to track down and speak with the articles author, and the NRA.

The author himself acknowledged that the article was inaccurate!

What really happened is that NRA was hoping that SB659 (Stops the HCI lawsuits that are trying to bankrupt the gun industry) could be brought to a vote BEFORE the holiday recess. There are enough votes to ensure it passes, the anti's are trying to keep it bottled up in committee to prevent a vote they will lose!
Sierra Harry is the senate minority leader, he was in a position to support the bill being brought to a vote.
He claims to support SB-659, and NRA made a minimal donation his PAC.
This is NOT an endorsement for Reid's reelection from NRA, it is only a routine action of the sort that smart lobbyist do all the time.
NRA will NOT endorse anyone until after candidate filing has closed, and the candidates have returned their NRA questionnaires.

So how did this misleading article come about?
Simple, Reid's staff sent an inaccurate press release out to the local AP reporter.
Typical of AP, he submitted it to the media without contacting NRA to verify it's accuracy.
Reid's staff actually sent the AP reporter a "clarification" explaining that the NRA donation is NOT an endorsement for his reelection. But they waited until it was too late for the article to be corrected as it had already gone to the printers!

The AP reporter assured me that since the inaccurate article "became an issue" he intends to submit an article correcting the original.
Several weeks have already passed, if the article were going to happen it should have already been published.
It may have been, but no doubt if it was it appeared on page 37-C, instead of the front page, above the fold!

Thanks for the reply, Richard. I will stop complaining about the NRA, and complain more loudly about Reid and the AP!

I will also put a link on the thread with the inaccurate article.
