My next door neighbour had a Shepard, about 2 years old. I say had, because a few weeks ago he flipped out and attacked her, the kids, and her boyfriend. You should see his arms. They were able to get him into the bathroom and lock him in - he destroyed it. Had to bring animal control in to take him away, unfortunately. They’ve got another Shepard pup already.

a chained dog is more likely to bite

Growing up I've known people who forever kept their dogs chained to their dog houses in the back yard and only ventured out to feed them. To this day I can never figure out why.

A dog is either a companion and allowed in the house or a hunter and kept in the kennel but in both cases has constant interaction with its owner.......

"...the CDC says that a chained dog is more likely to bite than an unchained dog."

Huh? Can anyone explain that to me?

A chained dog will not be able to retreat any farther than the chain allows. Once the dog feels "cornered," it will bite, even if the dog's not normally aggressive. This wasn't surprising to me at all.

How about Chihuahua-Jack Russel crosses? She’s a wee bit hyper, but man, can she run.

I concur with this. It really depends on how the dog is socialized. My boss has a doberman which he brings to the office. Just loves attention. Some of my neighbors have german shepherds, huskies, who have the ability to identify another person who likes dogs.

Last night I went to a friends house and she had a Saint Bernard. I am like you, my sister raises Saints, and when the dog came up I started petting it. All of a suddent it snapped at me and bit me on the face. I can’t believe it.

I thought so too, until last night when I was petting a friends dog and all of a sudden he just bit me on my face. I am in shock.

My sister raises these dogs and she can’t believe it either.

haven’t you ever seen CUJO....That movie scared the Sh** out of me when I was little...I know it’s just a movie but it’s gotta come from somewhere....I have a sister whose BF has two female Pits...they claim their not bad...You tell me why then so they tear up everything they see...from toys to purses...one of them is Spayed the other not...the one that’s not is fighting for the Alpha role female...My sister wants to get rid of that one cause it messes up her stuff and her BF says that he wants to Breed her...my problem is if this female is fighting with the other female..and she is trying to act dominate female of the house...what do you think will happen when she has puppies!

I grew up with a Dobermen she was the most sweetest gentle Pup I could ever have...She was very smart too....we would take her for a walk and there were times we didn’t even have to put her on a leash she stayed right by our side...She also was a good football player too. I miss that pup...she ended have getting sick...Right after she went out of heat the vet took and gave her shots and you know it’s a live virus that they inject into their body...well it caused her white blood cells to attack her red blood cells it weakened her severely and rather then let her suffer we had to put her to sleep....I still miss her..she was a really good dog.

I think the boyfriend should be hauled off to the vet for neutering. Sounds like he shouldn’t be reproducing any more than the pit should.

Yes I ave to agree. I currently have 7 Saint Bernard’s and not 1 of them would ever bite someone. Why they are on the list is beyond me. I even did a search for attacks from a saint bernard and found none so whts really up with this????

Haha.i think that this webpage is funny.because it seems that ignorant people in this world have corrupted us all.well the most of us.i have never met one mean dog in my life, ever regardless of breed.i own a pitbull and i use to own a great dane and neither of them have been aggressive or “dangerous”.all of the people who write about these breeds, don’t know the situation the animal is in when it attacks,of course someone will claim that it was the dogs fault, because were human and we can seem to take blame for what we do.grow up america!these dogs arent disposable, they love just like us!

My sister has a Pit, Tyson. The gentle retard pretty much. But her child is always riding on his back like a pony. The only time he got “Dangerous” is when a black lab tried to attack my neice, that dog did fair well. But after it he picked up his little girl and walked back across the yard to play. Truly the meanest breed out there.

this is completely ridiculous. obviously whoever wrote this list is going on generalizations and knows nothing about the actual dogs. true pit bulls have the power to kill a human but only pits raised for fighting or by abusive or neglecting owners actually harm people. i know many pit bulls that are totally family pets and are loving parts of families even with small children. i am planning on getting one soon half because of the great results i have seen with other pit bulls being loving, family friendly, and extremely loyals pets.

It is so important to create awareness about dangerous dogs to help people be more careful around these breeds, dog owners to be more responsible and to clear the way for more effective legislation. Steve Johnson http://www.toptenmostdangerousdogs.com

German Shepherds 3rd most dangerous? To whom? Intruders? Criminals? Burglars? Not to their owners.
