Exactly, I dressed "differently" then my folks back in the 70s, now my kid is wearing clothes reminiscence of my wear of the 70s, i.e. tight pants and shirts, wide belts, etc...

I can agree with wild hair and funky jeans, but I can't agree with body piercings and tattoos. I can look at the strange hair styles I wore in the '70s and laugh, because I cut my hair in the '80s. What do you do with a tattoo or a nose ring that is out of style?

It's hard to know what is honest self-expression and what is self-destructive rebellion. There are no quick answers. Parenting requires work.

In the article above the father took the time to get inside his son's head rather than establishing a policy that might prove to be a problem later. That's what parenting is about.
