Author Salman Rushdie fled the city of his birth last week after demonstrations calling for him to be killed were staged outside his hotel in Bombay.
well, I'm sure these are different people than those that were responsible for 200+ deaths protesting a beauty contest in Nigeria ...
peace, peace, peace ...
when there is no peace ...

Religion of Peace....my ass!
Lots of these bastards will need to be "re-educated" or destroyed, before it can become a "religion of peace".....
Will the Muslims do it for themselves - or must we?

These people are absolute nuts -- in the S Verses, there's absolutely nothing to get so riled about. Andrew Lloyd Webbers JS Superstar is a lot more insulting than the S VErses. Oh, but wait, it's ok to insult Xtians, not Slammmmies.

In all fairness, Rushdie is an arrogant ass who, prior to the publishing of the Satanic Verses, seldom had a kind word for the West. After the fatwa, he came running to the West for protection.
I saw him on local TV when he was here last week giving an interview with his eye-candy harlot of a girlfriend (who is old enough to be his younger daughter for God's sake). Basically blamed the disaster of a movie she was in this past summer, "Boom", on the director. It was actually a bit refreshing to see someone speak so boldly. But the look on her face said he was sleeping on the couch that night.
So, not only has he managed to infuriate Islam, but he is also likely to need police protection from the "bhai" who are on the payroll of various and assorted Bollywood producers.

Has Michael Jackson been notified. He needs a more competent dermatologist.
To: Cronos
Bombay slang for gangster. It is also s slang term for a South Indian.

Has Michael Jackson been notified. He needs a more competent dermatologist.Plus the face blackening might prove helpful as a getaway disguise....

So what's your point? Rushdie has it coming from the islamic nuts?

No he does not deserve to be killed. But in this rare case I am sympathetic to their disdain for him. And I am not so sure there is not an element of convenient publicity to this.
I lived at the Taj Mahal Hotel (it is actually cheaper than most upper mid-level US hotel chains) for some time prior to getting my apartment. I know how the cops are in that part of Bombay (brutal). If the protestors did in fact unfurl their banners it was for a few seconds at best and it was an unannounced and likely small assembly. NO WAY would they have gotten a protest permit. India ain't America when it comes to free speech and assembly. I'll try to find something else in the Indian newspapers.

these guys need a hobby like video games or comic books or something ... crazy ...
