Sorry guys, speculation is not going to fly in court.

While I agree that fleeing ought to be severly punished, nothing indicates from this story that there was anything but a speeder that took off afterward.

Around the country cities are getting hammered in these chases when they end in injury and death.

In this circumstance and from this story I can't see chasing this woman for 16 mph over the speed limit. I've run her plate, I've seen her face, lock her up later.

I've run her plate, I've seen her face, lock her up later.

and if she left town with her child and killed it in a motel, you would be explaining to everyone why you didn't pursue her.

Good grief. She should have accepted the ticket and fought it in court or opted to go to traffic school so it wouldn't appear on her driving record. Instead, she upped to felony evading arrest and several other counts I think of. Apparently, she was in too much of a hurry to get Jr. to school on time to wait for the CHP cop to finish writing the ticket.

Sorry Pappy, "IF" just doesn't make it anymore. And 'if' doesn't stand up in court.

Would you mind telling me how you posted that for future reference?

Since 'Fintan' didn't get back to you on this I'll give it a shot.

As simply as possible here's the scoop:

The picture first has to reside on a computer somewhere that is accessible to the computers at FR. If you have a copy on your PC at home, you can't make it appear on FR unless you can get a copy onto the computer(s) maintained by your Internet Service Provider.
The picture that 'Fintan' posted actually resides on a computer at http://www.pickeringcreek.com. The picture is named "StopMom.jpg".

You can find this info by right clicking on the photo and checking the Properties, which will give you the address where the picture "lives".

Once you know this information you can use a string of HTML tags to post it onto FR. This HTML tag does nothing more than point to where the photo lives and tells the FR computer to display it. It looks like this:

<img src="http://www.pickeringcreek.com/StopMom.jpg">

So, the easiest way to display a photo here is to find it living on someone elses computer...one that is accessible by the FR computers. You can do this by searching Google Images for just the right pic and then checking out what the Properties are and plug that into the appropriate space between the quote marks in the string listed above. Simple, huh?

You might want to pop in on the HTML Sandbox here on FR and practice a bit.

I greatly appreciate your attempt to help me learn more about posting pictures. I had actually printed up the HTML Sandbox instructions and kept trying to follow them, but I think I'm a lost cause.

I didn't realize that pictures posted to this site had to be "hosted" -- no wonder I couldn't find a URL address that made sense.

But then, I've seen pictures FReepers have posted of themselves or events -- and so I thought there was a back door or something.

Anyway, thanks for the info!

I wonder how long she spent grooming that morning rather than getting the kiddo ready for school and taking off early enough to get there?

If you use Internet Explorer, when you find an image you want to share, you would right-click on it, and select "Properties" from the popup menu. Then select and copy the whole "Address (URL)" line, which will start with "http://www..." and end with the "...JPG" or "...GIF". That will be what gets pasted onto the forum post, surrounded with the needed image tags:

<IMG SRC="(paste the URL of the picture)">

... but I think I'm a lost cause.

Just keep in mind that everyone here was a beginner at some point.

I learned most of what I know from other folks. That's why I try to share the knowledge whenever needed. Everything else I learned by doing and practicing.

You should look into using the server space that is provided by most ISPs for your own personal use. The info is readily availbale from them on what server names to use and the tools are free on the Internet. All you need is an HTML editor and maybe an ftp (file transfer) program. It really is no harder than creating a document in a word processor and then emailing it. The principles are the same.

Make your own web page and create a masterpiece! All it takes is time and a little practice. If I learned it...ANYONE can do it.
