Tom, I can't rebut the points in the article because to a great extent I agree with Charlie Reese on this one. But I would offer another couple of alternatives as to why President Bush might not be ready to admit he was wrong. First off, there is still an outside chance that there might be some hidden weapons of mass destruction. I doubt they'll find anything to write home about but who knows? Also, it's not really fair to call the president a liar under these circumstances. He probably thought there were weapons of mass destruction and now he's still in denial. Not that I have much trust in any politicians but I do think it is probably more likely that the president acted on sloppy intelligence and bad advice rather than that he just intentionally lied to us all. If he was going to lie about it, he'd have had the spooks hide some WMD's so the G.I.'s would find them. If he was that dishonest he wouldn't just tell big lies and not cover himself with planted WMD's.
