Palm Beach County prosecutors rejected an overture last month from Rush Limbaugh's attorneys that would have allowed the conservative commentator to enter drug rehabilitation rather than face criminal charges for prescription drug abuse.
Prosecutors say they think they have evidence that Limbaugh committed at least 10 felonies by illegally obtaining overlapping drug prescriptions, according to documents released to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Thursday.

I searched and couldn't find this. On the Trib's site it's listed as breaking.
The Trib does require registration - but it's painless.
This IS a witch-hunt!

Oops. On the Trib's site it's listed as an Update, not breaking (but they don't use that term).

Yup - a witch hunt ... this is tantamount to saying "C'mon give us a guilty plea, 'cause, we're not too sure we could get a conviciton in a courtroom BUT we can get one in the court of public opinion ..."

Has Rush actually been charged with a crime? I'm confused: felony drug abuse?? That's a first.
To: Condor51
Bush should pardon him if he's prosecuted and convicted.

IF I were Rush, I'd sue for discrimination and violation of my civil rights (under decolonisation scheme against the right) and for selective politicaly motivated prosecution with blatant conflicts of interests.
The Prosecution has 1 billion answers it needs to provide before Rush can be asked about his involvement in drugs.... al of which would point to due process violation and unequal punishment
To: Condor51
I love Rush but he should be treated like anyone else.
Does anyone know how Reno might be connected to this?
I haven't read enough but have heard this?
To: mountaineer
They want him to plead guilty to something they haven't even charged him with..
Rush needs to tell them to go pound sand.

I love Rush but he should be treated like anyone else. Nobody else is treated like this. That's the problem.

I love Rush but he should be treated like anyone else.Thats just it, for some reason (hmmmm, wonder what it is), they are treating him more harshly. Someone has to be able to come up with the stats, what percentage of drug users like this are rung up on charges like they are trying to do with Rush.

I love Rush but he should be treated like anyone else. He's not being treated like anyone else, nobody gets treated like this. I'd like you to show me a single case.
It's not equal justice under the law.

No, because that would be obviously political. And the fact that it's in Florida makes it a double NO.

Yes it is. In the local paper, I'm always reading about some crackhead with a dozen counts of petty theft having all but 1 or 2 of the charges dismissed if he agrees to enter rehab. They won't offer Rush that kind of deal even though he wasn't stealing from people, extorting anybody, or engaging in gang activity? I find that highly suspect.
To: AAABEST
Agreed..
I think when they seized his medical records will come back and bite the DA in the butt.
