Them durn Marines anyhow-- Every time one gets to feeling
comfortable with the coruption that abounds along comes
a Marine and stands on principle. What this country needs
it does appear is more Marines in leadership positions.

It occurs to me that the dumb-ass Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire is an arrogant sob that cares not a whit about the church. He is willing to tear the church apart in order to do what.....? What is the point....after he and his "supporters" succeed in splitting the church, there will only be another homo oriented church where a bunch of people can get together and assure each other that they are not different and perverted.....after all if God had not intended for there to be homos....He wouldn't have made so many of them.......

(If God had not intended that there be burglars.....killers.....rapists.....drunks......etc etc)

I haven't been back to my church since the Robinson vote, nor do I intend to return. This former vestryman and active member of the parish can no longer tolerate the feel-good moral relativism that characterizes the leadership of the Episcopal church of America. My neighbor, also a former vestryman, also resigned.

...Oregon's new Episcopal bishop, the Rt. Rev. Johncy Itty...[said] "...we always leave the door open to disagree or to come back...prides ourselves on being understanding and respectful of many points of view."

So, let me get this straight: this boils down to those who know they're right (supported by Scripture and what the AEC states in the Articles and the BCP) and those who think they're right. AND, the ones who think they're right 'are leaving the door open' hoping the others will deny what IS right and come back? Wow.

"We're a church that prides ourselves on being understanding and respectful of many points of view"

And THAT is precisely the problem, at least when the points of view you "respect" are in direct conflict with the scriptures.

It is amazing to me that these people would be surprised that believers would condemn the church's decision to blatantly defy the teaching of the church and of the Lord Himself. There comes times in our lives where we must choose whom we will serve because no one can serve two masters, for, as the scriptures say, he will love the one and hate the other. The church decided that its master would be the lust of the flesh, therefore, many of us in the church were forced to make a choice as well.

"Itty, who has been careful to stand in the middle without taking an extreme position on the issue, says he won't be pushed to take one."

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. `So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth." (Rev. 3:15-16)

"I don't want this to be an issue that defines us."

Too late. It already has. That is a choice that you've made and unless that choice is renounced and those responsible for making it repent, the church is apostate.

"He does not appreciate the criticism that he is homophobic or a bigot."

Two of the most overused buzzwords of the socialists....designed to negate everything that is said by those who don't agree with their position. When the time comes that these folks have to give account of themselves it would be interesting to see how those terms play when they're used to define Christ Himself.

Besides wrapping themselves in robes of false-compassion, since they are giving their nihil obstat to inherent evils which cause great harm to the practicioners, there is a never-ending list of 'untidy' evils they can also be 'compassionate' and 'respectful' towards.

Hawkins is not willing to wait. He sees the issues clearly, he says. He does not appreciate the criticism that he is homophobic or a bigot. The American Episcopal Church has overstepped its boundaries, those outlined in the Articles of Religion and published in "The Book of Common Prayer," he says.

Stick to your guns, Sir. You are not the only one who has to leave your church. There are many of us who have made that move in the past five years, and are proud of it.
