Rep. Tom Tancredo’s Four-Point Plan for Immigration Control

The United States has lost control over its immigration policy. Over one million persons enter our nation illegally each year and we have antiquated and error-prone systems for knowing who our legal visitors are and for enforcing their visa time limits. Every poll shows that over 75% of citizens support border security and strict enforcement of our immigration laws. They want our immigration policies fixed. Here is my four-point plan for achieving control of our borders and enforcing sensible immigration policies.

1. Secure our Nation’s Borders

2. Establish a Genuine Guest Worker Program

3. Improve “Interior Enforcement” of Immigration Laws

4. Remove Incentives for Illegal Immigration

Yep, and as FTAA unfolds...welcome to the AU (American Union...from Canada to S. America). One question though, what happens to our Constitution, legal system, and local governance through city/county gov't? Are we headed to regional gov't's. throughout the AU? If you're living in Texas (aka 'New Aztlan') as I do, will our seat of gov't. someday be in Mex. City? I think folks need to project down the road on this issue and I mean REAL FAST!

Their U.S-born children do not get citizenship. You would have to change the Constitution of the United States which states that any child born in the U.S. is an American citizen. (Not that I am against what you said.)

Not so. Prior to the XIII Amedndment, the children of slaves were not citizens, but additional property.

Why wait so long to bring it up?

Perhaps his attention has been focused on trimming his toenails since he took office?

Or maybe focused on the enormous tax cuts, 9/11, the War on Terror, rooting out Muslim extremists terror cells here, repairing the FBI/CIA and building a cooperative effort from all our agencies into the Homeland Security Dept, preventing further terrorist attacks from Al Qaeda, international diplomacy against Europe, the U.N. and every Socialist and Communist organization on the planet, affirmative action, campaigning for GOP candidates in 2002 so we could take over Congress by a paper-slim majority, working to put conservative judges on the bench, reversing greenie environmental regulation, ....... to name a few items I've noticed on his calender lately.

The single issue pro-lifer conservatives also felt Bush took too long to bring up PBA.

Actually, there is little difference between them.

Of course there's not.

He needs to stop taking potshots at the President and actually communicate - and collaborate - with him on realistic proposals.

If Tancredo were serious, that's what he'd do.

But, then, the howler monkeys who follow him around would dump him like a hot potato, and he'd cease to be a minor personality in the conservative underground.

If the parents are illegal alien felons, the children should not grow up under the criminal influence of their parents in any event. They can leave the country with their parents, with a lifetime renuunciation and revocation of US citizenship, or they can remain here, to be raised by foster families as abandoned infants/children, to perhaps later serve as border guards well-suited to keeping the illegals back on their side of the fence.

The more such we get abandoned on our national doorstep, the stronger the defense of our southern border becomes. Eventually, the problem corrects itself.

Single issues are considered important to certain segments of Americans . .

Notice the "replacement" numbers of Americans already living in the U.S. from the 1970's going steadily down while Americans born outside the U.S. skyrocketing for the remainder of the 21st Century.

Here’s another reason for the decline in U.S.-Born Americans . .

Bingo....have we fallen so far that our fedgov even gives a rata$$ about what that collection of crooks, misfits, drug-dealers, etc. is going to demand regarding open borders? It probably looked like the bar scene from one of the Star Wars movies.

Illegals are not subject to our jurisdiction, recognizing them as legal workers would convey that status upon them.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I did not see or read about a Fingerprinting Provision for the "COYOTES" anywhere. How do plan to cross check those who you will catch and put in detention camps so you will know how many times you capture them?

I would think that any person entering this country illegally, thus violating the federal laws created to address this activity, gives the fedgov automatic jurisdiction and a mandate to punish that individual accordingly.

I agree single issues are important... Illegal immigration is actually WAY high on my own list of priorities. I even like Tancredo's plan.... which is why I don't mind Bush's, they are very similar. The penalties are different, yes, and personally I like Tancredo's better... but they aren't feasible. As long as Bush follows up and goes after employers as he said he would, I'm more than satisfied.

Now I have one. Why are we being put in this position by our President? Why did he propose this idiotic amnesty in the first place? Why is he going against the wishes of the vast majority?? Okay, 3 questions:)

RepTancredo's four point plan contains some legitimate specifics that can and should be part of any realistic effort to reach immigration reform. Instead of pandering to the Hispanic community and the pro-amnesty/open borders faction, PresBush should consider taking some serious actions that would finally seal the borders shut. Until we stop illegal border crossings, addressing immigration reform issues is an effort in futility. Once the borders are sealed, then the feds can begin the process of identifying illegal aliens living in the US, and preparing them for deportation, or if necessary, imprisonment. At the same time the feds should enforce those existing immigration laws that punish employers for hiring illegal aliens. Once these steps are taken, then we can impliment guest worker programs that will allow foreigners to enter the US following the proper processes. Granting legal status to illegal aliens will only further strain the social infrastructure of the US and breed more ill will. American's are a fair people, but they expect the rule of law be followed by all US citizens and all visitors to this great nation.

In terms of bearing children, they must be subject to our jurisdiction. Illegals are not protected under our constitution unless they are fully documented and accept our requirements to stay in country. Our right to send them back is the same as if they were legal, we can send them home whenever we want to.

I favor having the military patrol our borders. National defense is their obligation. If we're not going to use them to keep our borders secure, we might as well begin disbanding the Army and Marines NOW.
