The president is not offering amnesty. He is offering documentation. America will always be a land of immigrants. My conservative principals don't include denying basic rights, to people who are here to work, and otherwise don't hurt other people. We have serious issues to deal with such as drugs, UN, terrorism etc.

The president is not offering amnesty. He is offering documentation.

Of course he's offering amnesty! It doesn't matter what you call it: offering legalization to illegal entrants is "amnesty."

America will always be a land of immigrants.

What is this piece of fluff supposed to mean? America is a country of laws, which include immigration laws, which have to be enforced. A nation without control over its own borders or who enters its borders is not a nation in any meaningful sense.

My conservative principals don't include denying basic rights, to people who are here to work, and otherwise don't hurt other people.

*SIGH* "Conservative principles.." You think it's "conservative" to accord "basic rights" to people who have entered, remained and are employed here in violation of the immigration laws? I'm sorry I can't agree with you. And please do a little research on the massive problem we have in this country with violent crime committed by illegal aliens. Here's an article I posted just last night on the subject. It's certainly not terribly "compassionate" of you to ignore the impact illegal immigrant violent crime is having on your fellow citizens.

We have serious issues to deal with such as drugs, UN, terrorism etc.

"Drugs"? You don't think illegal immigrants bring in a lot of drugs and drug crime? "Terrorism"? You don't think lax immigration enforcement led to the 9/11 atrocities?

Do a little research before your next "talking points" post, please.

Wrong! America has always been a land of immigrants. But not a land of lawbreaking invaders. It is absolutely outlandish for you to claim the invaders do no harm to our society.

He proposes to offer documentation to people who are now here illegally (in other words, criminals who have already demonstrated no respect for the law).

His proposal would greatly increase the number of "guest worker" by allowing family members to qualify for work.

He proposes to raise my local and state taxes in order to pay for the social benefits the "guest workers" would qualify for. This includes welfare, free medical care at the emergency room of their choice, schooling, etc.)

He proposes to maintain and accelerate the downward trend in wages of the poorest of American citizens by forcing them to compete in the job market with guest workers willing to live 10-12 to a house.

He proposes to force more local spending on ESL classes which are rapidly replacing accelerated and enhancement classes in local schools.

He proposes that I, the taxpayer, subsidize the low wages paid by Tyson, Conagra, and all the other corporate employers of these "guest workers" with my tax money.

Sorry. Nobody here believes you, or Bush, or Hagel and Daschel. We know the truth when we hear it, and about the only place we are hearing it these days is from Tom Tancredo.

"and otherwise don't hurt other people. We have serious issues to deal with such as drugs, UN, terrorism etc."

Half the people in California prisons are illegals who commited crimes such as robbery and rape - that's not hurting people? What about the damage they are doing to our infrastructure - the drain on our economy to support their deadbeat a$$$es - the fact that they are bankrupting our hospitals and sucking off our welfare system? Doesn't this matter to you? They are also responsible for a lot of the drug problem in this country and who knows how many "terrorists" are sneaking over the borders with your sweet innocent illegals. Pull your head out - we don't need any more illegal, unskilled welfare bums in this country!

We have serious issues to deal with such as...UN...

Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am---did you say you were concerned about the UN?

Well, maybe you'd be interested in this article that appeared in the "mainstream conservative" Washington Times on January 18: "The Bush administration has begun issuing grants to help spread a United Nations-sponsored school program that aims to become a 'universal curriculum' for teaching global citizenship, peace studies and equality of world cultures."

"United Nations"? Say, isn't that what you meant by "UN"? And why is your guy Bush introducing a UN sponsored program into our schools? Is that a move designed to bring in independents too?

Pardon me, ma'am, but I really don't think there's anything "conservative" about your "principals."
