DENVER - Twenty-three congressmen warned President Bush in a letter yesterday that he risks an election-year backlash from Republican voters if he continues to press his guest-worker proposal.

The Republican lawmakers said their congressional offices have received a flood of angry letters, e-mails and phone calls from Republican constituents vowing that they will refuse to vote for the president if his program is approved.

I do not live in Calif, but my heart breaks for what they have endured for the last few years,

Here is a hanky. Look, if this is passed and Bush signs it, it will do nothing at all to help or hurt the situation. The only way to "solve" it is the 1954 solution and that is impossible to do today.

I'm glad that conservative dissent is getting some recognition. When the President announced his plan, I made a couple of calls; one to the RNC and another to the Immigration Hotline and I politely but firmly let them know that I disagreed on this issue and that this position would have an adverse effect on other Republican elections.

He talked about a guest worker program, a lot of use assumend that it would not apply to THOSE THAT HAVE BROKEN THE DAMN LAW.

Why does Bush wish to help those that have broken the law?

I certainly will not be voting anything but republican in 04 - that's a given. But when I think of what Bush has done here - I am reminded of just how unprotected our borders are. We are screaming to have our borders protected. If our borders were adequately protected we wouldn't have a problem with these Mexicans coming over the border to work. This has caused some nightmares already and I think those nightmares are just the tip of the iceberg to what might come. Jobs are going overseas now we invite illegals to come into our country and take our jobs. These illegals are securing good jobs. I've already heard of employers who fired all of their employees and went with a private contractor who in turn hired all illegals from Mexico. And I haven't even mentioned the terrorism factor yet. Our government is doing a piss poor job in protecting their citizens. Rather then sending our military overseas - why don't they use them for something of real value - like protecting our borders. Frankly, if I didn't have local obligations (my family) to worry about - I would go live in Norway. That's pretty sad when you feel you're being run out of your own country.

They are supposed to represent those that elected them, not serve Bush.

Not according to some here.

You, and people like you, are the reason nothing is done. He already has your vote so why worry about it? Better to get pander and get more votes than to do what is right.

Why does Bush wish to help those that have broken the law?

Why do we have parole/probation? Why do we have "tax amnesty days"? Why do we have speeding ticket amnesties. Get real.

do not live in Calif, but my heart breaks for what they have endured for the last few years, because no one else had a problem, an ignored their problem with illegals.

A great deal of California's problem with illegals ,and other things, is a mostly a self inflicted wound. Too generous social welfare, an attitude of well, live and let live, and some really lunatic political moves are all contributions to said wound, I can empathsize, though ,I live in Louisiana ,a demented banana republic only proud of the fact that at least we ain't Arkansas.

Those go to citizens. You get real, I have no desire to have to move my family because my state has been overrun by lawbreakers due to Bush's actions.

We threaten people who download music files with jail time and large fines, yet we do next to nothing to those that violate our border. And yet people still believe Bush when he says he wants to protect us. His actions show that to be a lie.

Apparently Bush wasn't watching TV when Gray Davis suggested giving illegal aliens drivers licenses, while spending tax money like a drunken 22 year old sailor, as Californian's marched Davis to the gallows and hung him with a political rope

The greatest state of the greatest country on earth

I would not have known about what he said as governor, and to be honest, I would have voted for him, just to make sure Gore did not get in. I know he mentioned it before 9/11, with his meeting with Fox.

To All

Why won't you help us call, write, and fax the president, senate and house, asking them not to vote or pass any immigration law, until they enforce the Federal Immigration Laws of the United States, that is the law now.

If the Senate and Congress get enough flack, they will hesitate to pass any thing pertaining to immigration.
Donate and support any body running for the senate and house that has a firm stand against any amnesty or guest worker program.

Well, let me put it to you this way - with regard to my vote - when Bush, Sr. was running a second term - we were disgusted and voted Peroh. Well, you know what the outcome of that was - we got stuck with a Clinton for 8 years. I will write my senator prior to November, 04. That is the best I can do. I refuse to get stuck with a Kerry character.

Alot of the problem in the West is the powerful Hispanic lobbies and groups like the Ford Foundation buying the politicians. Even many of the liberals are against the invasion. The Politicians are owned by business and foreign interests. AZ is a good example of that. Look at that bunch! But most of the people are dead set against it.

Game over USA.

Government grew less when we had Clinton. Why? Because the congress got off its butt and did it's job. Under Bush the don't do anything without checking with Rove/Bush first. That isn't they way our system is supposed to work.

I can read the papers and the government crime stats. You, on the other had, just seam like you will go along with Bush on whatever he does. I bet if he came out and said he supported abortion you and your fellow BushBots would agree.

He is president of the United States, not President of Mexico. You should think about what his policies are doing to this country and stop worshiping him like he is some kind of god.

The Rove Republicans are in for a shock come election day when they find out how many Conservatives have left the party. Unless they've swung alot of the Democrat vote their way, he'll lose.
