Did any of you bother to go on the site of the NEA and read the grants they have done for this year and for last year?

I doubt it or you wouldn't be making fools of yourselves with your Clinton era NEA grants and trying to paint President Bush and his Administration with the same brush. That is flat out wrong.

I went down every grant for 2004 -- from dance and ballet to writing to radio. We are talking small grants to a lot of companies that wouldn't be able to perform across this great Country if it were not for grants.

Guess to some of you being able to take your child to a ballet, a play, or a symphony means nothing. Well my children were brought up appreciating the arts as well as many other things to make them well rounded children that turn into well rounded adults. I would hate to think because of a bunch of hotheads that this President would lose an election because he and his wife want Americans to experience the different forms of art that has meant so much to this Nation from the time our Country was born.

Sorry that so many of you choose to make fun of various forms of art because the Clintons trashed the NEA for their own selfish use. How many times have you seen condoms on the WH Christmas tree -- never until the Clintons trashed the White House.

The Bush Family believes in reading, arts, sports, and well rounded American citizens. Wish you all did too. This is such a little amount to pay for so much enjoyment to so many people.

We're getting off topic here, because the issue here is spending like a drunken sailor. But just to finish an incomplete thought, the government taking the stance that the 2nd amendment is a personal right and not just for state run militias is huge to me, his judge choices have been 2A friendly, and he followed through on getting the background check records destroyed more expediently. Even with an AWB extension (so long as it is just maintaining the status quo there) wouldn't bug me much with the rest of that track record. But I know it will annoy others quite a bit so I wish he would spend more time ticking off his enemies and not his allies.

That had to be the most inane thing I have read in a long time.
That is so broad in scope that it is arcane.
A few specifics would be nice.

I see you signed up on the 23rd, and are throwing words around like "pathetic" and "stupid" and "damned fool". I was a newbie once, but I never acted this way towards people who have seen the PissChrist, or the Madonna smeared in elephant dung, or the other NEA fiascos.

There's not much more fun to be had than slapping around the latest little banty rooster trying to scratch out some turf.

Welcome aboard, little Dominecker....

Because I don't want to end it- I want to use it for conservative ends. I'm not opposed to 'government' I'm opposed to left-wing government.

Am left speechless. This sentiment is wrong on so many levels.

Lets all pretend that this is a 40's movie and slap ourselves or throw a glass of water on our neighbor to stop the hysterics. I submit that we should probably wait to see what the plan actually says. It could say we're going to spend a TRILLION on community theater but it doesn't mean it's going to come to fruition.

In specific response:

The No Child Left Behind act is roundly criticized for being "unfunded" (ie not much money spent) and testing is a helluvagood idea...don't follow your there.

A recess appointment effectively wastes a nom with what is basically a term limit. Doing one was good to make a point but in the long run, if he plays it cool and the GOP gains in the Senate, they stay in for LIFE. Look for this to come up in the campaign...don't follow you there.

The left is constantly bitching about the people we've rounded up and either held or deported post 9/11...don't follow you there.

If you're going to do a RX drug plan at all (which is questionable), you DAMN well better include in it the people who are paying all of the freaking taxes to fund it...definitely don't follow you there.

It's up to the Senate to pass the Energy bill that's been sent to them. Bush can't cast those votes. Count on seeing this in the campaign too...still don't follow.

The immigration plan is NEVER going to pass as proposed and hell, the Dems want to do more. If Bush loses, you can count on it being worse. Reagan did more than will develop here and I certainly don't think that if Mondale had won we'd be in better shape.

I've got no comment on the land grabs but if that's enough for you not to vote and risk a Kerry or Dean presidency, knock yourself out but NO BITCHING AFTER THE FACT.

The FY 2003 Budget for the NEA was $115.731 million. That included a $10 million increase that was the "biggest in years". We're probably talking about something like $20 million.

$20 million would probably pay for 400 more border security staff, or handguns for 20,000 airline pilots, both of which we need more than anti-American / anti-Christian exhibits by deranged Leftists, doncha think? Just speaking for myself here, but give me 20,000 Glock's in the hands of airline pilots over 50,000 crucifixes in jars of urine any day.

What does his impeachment have to do with the implementation of Dick Morris' triangulation strategy?

That he would not have won if a third party candidate did not take the conservative votes? That he did not win with a majority, just a plurality? That his "triangulation" did not save him from impeachment? And no forth.

Do you want a re-elected Bush to have to fight his second term as wounded as Clinton was? Or do you think Clinton was a spectacular success as a President and you wish he were back? Do you have a DU screen name?

I never said people opposing it were culpable- people voting against Bush because of it, however, have a moral responsibiliy for every American who dies thereafter in a terrorist attack.

That's complete and utter horse dung. Bush is not a "maximum leader" or a dictator - he is an elected official, and rightful criticism of bad or wrong-headed actions he takes does not make the person making the criticism a terrorist.

Still a stupid program
