What is wrong with America?
The personal thoughts of Chris Lineberry | 1-29-04 | Chris Lineberry

A preacher once went around New York City and asked the following question to the first person he met on the street. The question was," Do you know what is wrong with America?" The man's answer was"I don't know, and I don't care."

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: apathy; complacency
Little did this man know, he correctly identified the two biggest problems with America. Complacency is no doubt what plagues America. The I don't know and I don't care attitude is why the Pledge of Allegiance has now been found unconstitutional, and it is also why the Ten Commandments are not allowed to be displayed in courts and schools all across the country. Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come for people of good conscious to stand up and be counted. We must say to the liberals yes we can and do legislate morality to keep ourselves on the paths of righteousness!!! If we did not legislate morality, murder would not be illegal!!! In fact, there would be no need for General Statutes that declare any activity to be illegal!!! The amazing thing about the argument over the Ten Commandments to me is the fact that every State in the Union has a group of laws on its books making the Ten Commandments a binding legal order of the citizenry. For example, Thou shalt not steal- GS 14-72 Larceny, here in North Carolina. Basically this statute requires that a person remove some property from the owner with the intent to permanantly deprive the owner of its use, i. e. stealing is illegal. For those of you who have ever had to testify under oath know and understand that if you perjure yourself (or lie) on the stand you will spend time in jail. Thus lying is illegal. These two are just examples, there are laws that make killing illegal, and yet some how the Ten Commandments are unconstitutional though they contain all of the principals our society has said is acceptable for Americans to follow and recognize for more than 200 years now. In conclusion, we must put an end to this foolishness. How do we put an end to this foolishness? Vote!!! Keep these liberal minded people out of public office. Liberals do not now, nor have they ever known what is really best for America.

Maybe the guy who answered the question wasn't being complacent. Maybe he was annoyed at being accosted on the street by a complete stranger.

Maybe I'd care about this guys "opinion" if he could first answer "who is the Sec. of Defence"? At least then I'd know he had something upstairs.

All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
