The story is bogus. We know there is no supernatural, because it does not show up on instruments. So it's not there. He was on drugs, and hallucinated.

Probably a fair guess, "Howard Storm went on to earn a master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and for 20 years was an arts professor..."

As I understand it, there is a big difference between NDE's and hallucinations. Hallucinations tend to be rather intangible, and vary wildly from experience to experience and from person to person.

This is a subject that I find myself very interested in. You can check out http://www.near-death.com to read about the NDE's of a large number of people. Some are very different than others, but there is a commonality between them that is interesting to contemplate.

I've been agnostic for a long time, but I find myself coming to believe that this reality is a subset of a larger reality. One of my favorite quotes from one person's NDE was when they asked the question of the angelic beings they encountered "what religion is the right one to follow". The answer? "Whatever one brings you closest to God".

LOL. Too much. Exactly how does one measure the supernatural? An Oscilloscope and a DVM?

They began to tear off pieces of his flesh, and he realized that he was being taken apart and eaten alive, methodically, slowly, so that their entertainment would last as long as possible.

Kind of sounds like the Washington press corp.

I don't believe gravity shows up on instruments either, but that is real.

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

"We know there is no supernatural, because it does not show up on instruments"

9/10'ths of what liberals bleat about in class and preach as science does not show up on instruments either.   :)

I don't know if it is a bogus story, but I have read many accounts of nonbelievers having a perfectly uranic NDE. Believing in religion seems to be no requisite for a happy ever aftering.

What shows up on our instruments concerning life on other planets?

I for one am thankful that we now have instruments that can detected and report on all things known and unknown.

It showed up on the human instrument. Love, honor, mercy, courage, honesty, and self-sacrifice don't show up on instruments designed to measure force or quantity, but they're still perceptible, their measure is taken by experience, and they lie behind the greatest and most forceful events in history.

I had a NDE forty-six years ago at the age of seven. My appendix had burst and it was eight hours till I was taken to the hospitial.A priest was called and I was given last rites. The doctors told my parents the didn't expect me too make it.As the priest was giving the last rites I was suddenly outside the hospital, seventeen stories up on a ledge with my guardian angel. We lived in New York City.As a child I expected my angel too have wings but he didn't. I asked him why not. He said that was only in pictures. He told me not too be afraid I was going too live a long time and besides there was something I had too do in this life. He didn;t tell what this thing was but after I would die and go too heaven. He also said an other child in the hospital had the same condition as mine and would die.It wasn't till years later my mother told me she had spoken too an Italian woman at the hospital that cursed her because her son died and I had lived. Her sons appendix had burst also. After I had recovered and returned home my brothers and sisters all remember me telling them about my guardian angel and what he had told me.My parents said that for about six months I'd walk into their room at night and say I couldn't sleep because a light keep coming on in my head.

A weird little side note.
Two years ago my brother and I were watching the movie,City of Angels,a movie were angels are in operating rooms in hospitals,I told my brother that I hadn't heard from my guardian angel in forty-six years and I wondered what he was up too. A minute later my work pager went off. I was unfamiliar with the number but answered it anyway. It was an operating room in a hospital in Santa cruz California. They said no one had called. By the way, I dont work for a hospital. I do construction work

You happen to be WRONG.

Well documented cases involve the individuals seeing things on top of pipes and describing procedures they had no knowledge of--as well as other factors (such as personnel in other rooms doing specific tasks at that moment) they could not have known in their bodies at the time.

Your construction on reality will crash in this era. It remains to be seen whether it will crash with you on God's side or not. I would encourage you to make certain you end up on God's side while there is still time to choose.

Time is running out for the whole planet . . . and EVERY individual in it.

He stopped breathing and his brain went in to oxygen deprivation. He hallucinated. Whatever life-changing experience he had, and whatever big booga-booga he thought he saw has nothing to do with knowledge of the afterlife and everything to do with a brain trying to deal with serious trauma.

The stupidest part of scientism is the idea that if you can't measure it, it doesn't exist. Instruments uncover reality, they don't create it.

The story is bogus. We know there is no supernatural, because it does not show up on instruments.

We know there is no supernatural, because it does not show up on instruments. So it's not there.

The supernatural, by definition, is incapable of being detected by instruments. Your statement merely begs the question.
