NFL Cancels Chasez Performance

The NFL has taken one of its first actions in the wake of the controversy surrounding the Super Bowl halftime show by canceling a halftime performance by JC Chasez, a member of Justin Timberlake's band *NSYNC, scheduled for this weekend's Pro Bowl on ESPN.

Mr. Chasez was to sing "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)," a song that appeared in the soundtrack of the 20th Century Fox movie "Drumline" in 2002.

"We thought it was over the top," said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. "It was because of the song, and how we believed it was going to be choreographed. We wanted to go in a different direction." Mr. McCarthy added that Mr. Chasez didn't hold rehearsals at the Pro Bowl for the song.

The NFL is now featuring Hawaiian-theme entertainment during halftime to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pro Bowl being played in Hawaii.

It's possible Mr. Chasez will sing the national anthem at the game, Mr. McCarthy said.

The performance cancellation "was an NFL decision," said a spokeswoman for Jive Records, Mr. Chasez's record company.

The move follows last Sunday's Super Bowl controversy in which singers Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performed at halftime. At the end of a song, Mr. Timberlake ripped part of Ms. Jackson's costume, revealing her right breast.

The Federal Communications Commission is considering action against CBS. #

At least the NFL learns from it's mistakes. That's a lot more than can be said for CBSMTVViacom.

This is just an overreaction on the NFL's part.

All they have to do is put Hillary or Madeline on stage next to Chasez --- that way if it happens again the crowd will rip him to pieces.

I predict a wardrobe malfunction. The dude twirling the battons of fire will light someone's grass skirt on fire.

Here's another easy fix:

Mandatory coconut bras for everyone --- just in case.

(Sunburst pasties are optional)

Song: Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love) Lyrics

Saw you 'round the other day,
Shorty she was all the way
Looked like you were feeling me
So I had to come and see
Girl he wasn't tryin' to hate
But she had to demonstrate
That she was the queen to be
But she couldn't fight the chemistry
and I say...
I I I
I can't lose you, no
I I I
Nooooo

She was disco lights on a Friday night
She moves across the floor
Suga!
She was o so tight like dynamite
Blowin' me up with her love
She was on the phone with me
All night long
I just can't get enough
She was ah ah oh, ah ah oh
Blowin' me up with her love
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh....

Girl its just the sexy way
You back yourself into me
You're more then just a pretty face
You're better then a fantasy
Come on baby
Don't ignore me
I know what you're feeling for me
You can't fight it
Cause you want me
Don't you miss this or you'll be sorry
So tell me what it's gonna take
You've got me all bent out of shape
Thinking bout you all day
And how you gonna make me wait
and I say..
I I I
I can't lose you
I I I
Whoaaaa

She was disco lights on a Friday night
She moves across the floor
She moves across the floor
She was o so tight like dynamite
Blowin' me up with her love
She was on the phone with me
All night long
I just can't get enough
She was ah ah oh, ah ah oh
Blowin' me up with her love

She was disco lights on a Friday night
She moves across the floor
She moves across the floor
She was o so tight like dynamite
Blowin' me up with her love
She was on the phone with me
All night long
I just can't get enough
She was ah ah oh, ah ah oh
Blowin' me up with her love

Ahhhh... there's just something about you baby..
it's taking me over... I want you to know

Now it's on tonight
She took all control
Turned off all the lights
She said .... don't.. you.. want.. to..
Na na na, na na na
Hey!
Na na na na na
Yeh yeh yeh
Na na na na na na
Oh oh oh

Tell a story
She was leaning on me
Getting horny
Maybe we'll get naughty
Tell a story
She was leaning on me
Getting horny
Maybe we'll get naughty

She was on the phone with me
All night long
And I just can't get enough
She was ah ah oh, ah ah oh
Blowin' me up with her love
She was disco lights on a Friday night
She moves across the floor
She moves across the floor
She was o so tight like dynamite
Blowin' me up with her love

She was ah ah oh, ah ah oh
Blowin' me up with her love
Na na na, na na na, na na na na
She moves across the floor
Na na na na na na na na na na na na no
O! she may! o! I can't get enough

Blowin' me up with her love

"Mr. Chasez was to sing "Blowin' Me Up"

Instead, a Mr. Popeye will sing his new hit, "Well, blow me down."

What about the NFL's part in the blame game for Janet Jackson? They hire MTV to produce a halftime show and then are shocked and surprised that something of questionable morality was injected into the show. On what planet are the NFL offices?

"The NFL is now featuring Hawaiian-theme entertainment during halftime"

As long as none of the performers get lei'd on stage, it should be family-friendly. ;)

Drumline was a pretty good movie, IMO. Hardly any offensive content.

I didn't see the movie and thought I'd post the lyrics to the song to see where the problem was. There is some sexual innuendo about rubbing against him and "doing things later" and a lot of moaning. The word horny is used.

Then again I haven't seen the choreographed dance. I don't see what this song has to do with football or Hawaii though.

I'm just amazed at the talent these songwriters exhibit these days. (/sarcasm) Morons. Can't write to save their lives, they have to put "uh uh uh uh uh oh" into it, to simulate sex--yeah, THAT makes it a good song. Get some creativity, get some class, get some talent.
