[history]
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (AP) - Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, one of four Republican candidates challenging Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, said Thursday that economic and legal problems in Mexico were primarily to blame for this country's "failed immigration policy."
Marin, a Mexican immigrant, called on leaders of that country to stimulate the economy of Mexico by restructuring its tax system, encouraging private investment and funding $50 billion in repairs to its national power grid.

Thanks, I'll be voting for Kaloogian, who supports enforcing our immigration laws, rather than blaming Mexico.

Unbelievable.
If I didn't know better I would have guessed that this is statement offered in frustration by a Mexican citizen about Mexican domestic politics.
Unfortunately it is not.
Marin's apparent unwillingness to directly protect our sovereignty is alarming.
The suggestion that a taxpayer funded loan of $50B would help the economic problems in California is mindful of our current governor's pursuits.
Another Republican suggesting that borrowing is the answer if we can't cut expenses (regulate immigration).

He does touch on a point though. All the tightening we do will barely hold back the tide.
This government should be putting the squeeze on Fox to start cleaning up their own mess, preferably by cutting off any aid we are giving them. As long as the elites down there keep screwing over the peons, and using the U.S. as an escape valve, nothing will change.

She's right. The solution to this problem lies in Mexico.

Well he's wrong. We can put the blame squarely on the politicians who set the policy and impetus. They refuse to uphold our laws.

I'm glad that someone is finally looking to attack the ROOT of the problem, rather than just putting a bandaid over the effects of decades of failed policies.
YES, we need to further clamp down on the borders. BUT, as the DEMS will never let us put a lock down on the borders, it also would be nice to cut off the problem at the source.
I'm suprised she of all people would say something like this. Good for her.
That said, she still isn't getting my vote...not yet.
