Taliban Bodies, and all those GrouchyMedia vids, are just The Best™.

I especially liked the images in the second one, with the aircraft armorers around their bomb trucks, giving thumbs-ups, with "Thanks, Grouchy" chalked on the bombs.

Just an obeservation - the whole concept of "right-wing punk" ties in nicely with the idea of "South Park Republicans". Trey and Matt just take no prisoners, and they are certainly not friends of any Liberal talking points, that I have seen.

And thinking about punk tie-ins with South Park, the Barbara Streisand / Mecha episode, where the boys bring in Robert Smith of The Cure to save South Park, is a classic.

Yes, I did, good news there.

The people up there need to be tar and feathering some elected officials, and booting their idiot police chief.

I wouldn't go calling Johnny Rotten/Lydon a Republican (I think he has denied it himself). He doesn't seem to be a Democrat either. He does have some conservative/libertarian ideas. Few people who invite him on tv to speak (outside of having him there for the "freak" factor) actually care to listen to what he has to say.

I would think that the youth of today would be far better off if they were listening to lectures by John Lydon rather than the delusional tin foil left wing rants of Jello Biafra. John doesn't lecture (as far as I know).

I think the John Lydon's been living in LA for some time but I don't know if he is a US citizen. Peter Jennings was on tv for 20 years and only recently "upped" even though he still claims his Canadian citizenship; I guess that he hates President Bush so much that he just had to be able to vote against him this time.

The Cure v. MechaStreisand is the ONLY South Park I've never seen. Just the line, "curse your blackened soul, Streisand' is brilliant.

My hubby and I are, I guess, sort of South Park repubs, if we could be classified as anything. Possibly Mad Magazine repubs?

Punk just always seemed to go hand in hand philosophically with conservatism--or libertarianism at least. Possibly nihilism (at its worst), but never a collectivist concept. However, it makes sense, twenty some years later, that many punks would be involved with the "me too, me too!" style of socialism. Group think, safety in numbers, just a too-late gaggle of followers too late to the dinner table who don't get that wearing torn mesh shirts, bondage pants and combat boots isn't what makes them 'punk'.

Twenty, thirty years ago, punk was a rare thing, and attracted a more adventurous, loner sort. As soon as it became an established 'fashion', of course, the wannabes and the hive-minded took over.

God save the president!

That's a great line! Better even than the one I heard today, calling lawyers 'trial pimps.'

That's a keeper.

Actually, John has been living in the conservative mecca of San Diego for a long time now, where his wife is a marine biologist.

He does have more libertarian leanings, that is correct. But it's still all under the same ideological banner.

He's been on Politically Incorrect and Tom Snyder talking politics. And he hosted Rotten Television on VH-1 and also Rotten Radio with eYada - which admittedly, I have no idea what that is.

He has been a champion of 3rd party type politics, particularly the Libertarians and people like Jesse Ventura.
He may be of the growing breed whose focus is more anti-Democrat than it is pro-Republican.

I think we should form The FreeRepublic Contingent.
Siouxsie/Pistols fans should appreciate this.

I love many types of music and punk rock is one of them, I'm gonna check this site out, and by the way, most punk rockers are Republicans, Jello Biafra, Sex Pistols, Misfits, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, they're not whiney little emo brats that are liberal scum like we have today, thank God for rock and roll!

I was never into punk, though I loved the film, SID AND NANCY. Very funny, and Gary Oldman is rumored to be a conservative.

Also, back in high school, in the late 1970s, I had an Objectivist friend who was a big Patti Smith fan. He also loved Blondie, the B-52s, and Devo (or are they too New Wave?)

Looking at South By Southwest's website (the schedule was posted today) I see that PunkVoter.com will be doing a Bush Hater rally.

Emo's Main Room ( 603 Red River St.) (All Ages)
Fat Wreck Chords and Punk Voter present 'Rock Against Bush'

The Lawrence Arms 8:00 p.m. Chicago IL Punk
Against Me! 9:00 p.m. Gainesville FL Punk
David Cross 10:00 p.m. Atlanta GA Comedy
Dillinger 4 11:00 p.m. Minneapolis MN Punk
Alkaline Trio 12:00 a.m. Chicago IL Punk
NOFX 1:00 a.m. Los Angeles CA Punk

http://www.punkvoter.com/

At least they are honest with their activities and not BSing it as "non-partisan 501(c)3" like Rock the Vote.

I AM surprised to see them accepting donations from people under 18.

I emailed the Conservative Punks site...
