I'm on record for a few months now saying Dean would bolt to a third party

This was also predicted by a columnist in the NYT awhile ago; I can't remember the writer's name. He said if Dean did not get the Dem nomination, watch for Dean (and Dean's enormous ego) to run for president some other way, maybe as an independent. (BTW -- Nader says he, Nader, will run as an independent.) I think the door is open for Dean to run Green -- and I bet he will.

Howard Dean has probably figured out that McAuliffe and the Clinton's dropped the hammer on him and he's out for blood.

Talk about taking WMD's off the headlines :-)

I posted a "vanity" article about this last week. I'm glad others are seeing this as a possibility. Dean will say he is supporting the nominee as long as he is running. Similar to John Anderson in 1980 who did the same thing. Talk about an ego, that clown really had one.

When Dean bombs out in Wisconsin I think he will then seriously consider running for the Greens. It is a long shot for him to get in the debates because of the percentage he would have to get in the polls, but we can always hope.

I think Dean and Jihad Jim McDermott would be a good ticket, though President Bartlet from West Wing seems more likely.

Once he is out from under the thumb of the dems and ALL the special interests they work for, once he can be his OWN man, Dr. Dean would be the perfect candidate for president. Only he, as a truely independent candidate, could beat President Bush. Go Howard, unite ALL right thinking Americans. Help us take back the country, and run as a Green.

But, you will be able to keep the seal on your Vermnot records until after you are elected President, won't you? We don't want any proof coming out about those rumors about all the abortions you did on state time on young black girls from NYC and Boston! Go Howie!!!

He'd have to ditch his support for state's rights on gun control legislation.

Dean has asserted in interviewing that he will support the Democrat nominee for President.

It's not uncommon for enthusiasts in campaigns to try to go beyond what that candidate states.

Dean won't be the droid they'll have to look for. (Nader, however probably will. ;-)

Go for it Howard! I, for one, believe his Iowa speech was a little over the top. But I also think that such a thing shouldn't have crippled his campaign. IMHO, it was a vast left-wing conspiracy that made Kerry the front runner, all perpetrated by the liberal media and the Clintons. So I say, you go Howard! Run on the Green ticket.

The GREEN Mountain Nut-Job rides again. I doubt he'll really bolt. I think he just wants to write most of the Dems' presidential platform and hog a bunch of air time at the convention.

You know, Dean is the victim here- a victim of his own party and kind. The liberal media abandoned him because of one silly outburst and made Kerry their man. I hope Dean realizes that there is no loyalty within his own party, so he should seek acceptance elsewhere.

FNC reporting today than in the last week or so, The Nation (biggest Leftie national newspaper) has begged Nader not to run in three or four separate articles.

Given the number of times Dean has pledged to support the nominee and as frontrunner extracted the same promise from the other Dims, it would seem pretty hard for him to switch now.

If he went, I think 75% of his voters would follow him. If he doesn't, I think 50% of them would defect to a Nader Green run anyway.

Your words here need to be repeated and repeated.

"DEAN IS A VICTIM OF A HATE CRIME AGAINST HIM BY HIS OWN PARTY!"

The Nation doesn't want him to run because of the view on the left that he cost Algore the election. Dean owes nothing to the Democrats, his career with them is done.

His run for the Green will all depend on his ego and anger. We will see.

This is nuts. After 2000, anyone who runs as a Green will have a contract taken out on him. There's no way the Dems let another 10 million votes go down the chute.

Kerry will need a southerner to balance the ticket, not another northeasterner, so Edwards is in the best position of all the candidates right now. Kerry figures his Vietnam experience will carry him, so he doesn't need the general.

Deano is finito.

(Of course, there are lots of southerners for Kerry to choose from, so Edwards needs to position himself carefully if he wants VP. Also, having two senators on the ticket is probably a bad move, so Kerry will probably pick a southern governor.)
