Bush and I were Lieutenants (Fellow Pilot Comes to Bush's Defense)
The Washington Times Letters to the Editor ^ | 2-11-4 | Col. William Campenni (ret.)

'Bush and I were lieutenants'

George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

THANK YOU...now Bush Team get this into the action options and find others who are sick of these pansy-assed critics of reserve and guard service. Today, as always, the reserves and guard are allowing us a good night's sleep!

General Turnipseed HAS NOT CHANGED HIS STATEMENT. The lamestream media MISQUOTED Turnipseed as the beginning, and now they are covering for their dishonesty and bias by claiming that Turnipseed has changed his position. This is cr*p piled on cr*p in the media. We need to beat them to death with the truth.

Haven't I seen you on an AOL chat? (News,Sports,Finance_Debate Politics site)

If you are the same person, and the tenor of your post suggests so, then you need to head over to DU where you belong!

The only problem with this is that the author will be seen as "partisan" because he attacks McAuliffe, Moore, et al. Never mind that the attacks are partisan.

It doesn't really matter because this is a losing issue for Democrats.

Bump that!!! The dems know darn well no one can come up with all the records they want from 30 years ago. I almost died in a car wreck 30 years ago and I don't know anyone who can even remember it!! ALL the records are gone.

"Junior said that? Well, why am I not surprised?"

You must be from Memphis. Yes, he said it softly, nicely and politely. As always.

He didn't take well to questions about Kerry's post VietNam activities, though.

"He said he made it up later, but you don't have that option. When you're supposed to serve our country, you're supposed to be there."

That's not true, is it, Donner?

Bump. John "F'n Traitor" Kerry is a treacherous traitor. Hannity might not be able to say it but I can. I need a list of rats to spam.

"You are dead wrong.

The press IGNORED Clinton's blatant draft dodging, but trumpets the baseless AWOL charge against Bush.

Methinks you are a longtime troll.

Over in DU, there have been libslime bragging that they are registered here and not suspected of being trolls.

Looks like your true nature hath outed itself, and you are caught.

Begone troll!"

This is nonsense. I have never posted there and have nothing in common with them. I am a moderator on another political forum but it is straight down the line with views on either side. I just look for the truth. Today I posted the article on Kerry's pro U.N.'s views after the war. So this must mean I am a Republican operative, right? I've been banging on him all week long.

For the "silent majority" this may resonate but, since in most cases, "Democrat= Unprincipled Scum", it will not mute the attacks.

I have a friend who turned down a commission in the ANG (because of the disruption to his personal life) only to be drafted (and then turned down OCS because it too would require more time in the service). He is not moved at all by this for in his blind liberal democrat mind, the facts don't matter only the allegations (except where a democrat is involved)...

If you would take the time to read one of the many threads about this, you would read many times from many different posters that the plane he was qualified for was being removed from his unit. He had too little time left of his 6 year obligation for the Air force (they did the training) to train him for a new aircraft. SO he did not need a flight physical if he was not going to be FLYING!

I don't think there is a dispute that the President served honorably in 70-71.

Tell that to the left.

Only problem with that, the left doesn't know the meaning of "honor."

Why did Lt. George W. Bush allow himself to be grounded

The way you phrased that rhetorical, is rather suspect. Who said he allowed himself to be grounded?

You don't know the full story, I don't know the full story, and I'm not here to speculate on why Bush did what and when did he do it, and neither should you, or Terry McAwful, the lamestream press, or John Kerry. It won't be an issue 9 months from now, whether Bush comes clean with it or not. If you want to sit home and protest on Election night, fine. I've got bigger issues going on in my life than to foam at the mouth over something that happend 30 years ago. The rest of your post appears to be a healthiful spoonfeeding from the media. With each passing day, it's looking more and more like the lamesream press is out to destroy Bush. The White House gave them what they been asking for yesterday, and now they want more? Can't you see that this whole thing is partisan at it's worst?
