He voted for Bush in 2000 and believes that the Iraq war has served some useful purposes citing, as the White House does, disarmament actions since pursued by Libyan president Moammar Khadaffi but he is disgruntled both about aspects of the war and about what he sees as Bushs lack of truthfulness about his military record.
I think a commander-in-chief who sends his men off to war ought to be a veteran who has seen the sting of battle, Bishop says. In Iraq: we have a bunch of great soldiers, but they are not policemen. I dont think he [the president] was well advised; right now its costing us an American life a day. Im not a peacenik, but what really bothers me is that of the 500 or so that weve lost almost 80 of them reservists. Weve got an over-extended Guard and reserve.Everything he knows about Bush's background now, he knew in 2000.
I ain't buyin' it.
To: syriacus
I think this paragraph says it all:
Like his old comrade Mintz, Bishop was a pilot for Eastern Airlines during their reserve service in 1972 at Dannelly. Mintz then lived in Montgomery; Bishop commuted from Atlanta, a two-hour drive away. Mintz and Bishop retired from the Guard with the ranks of lieutenant colonel and colonel, respectively. Bishop, especially, is bitter about the fate of Eastern, which went bankrupt during the administration of President George H.W. Bush, the current incumbents father. I watched my company dissolve under his policies. Both Bushes were children of privilege, unlike himself and Mintz.
We have a couple of Bush-haters here. In fact, Mintz and Bishop are probably registered Democrats (not that anyone in the press will bother to look).
You're right, however. The GOP had better be ready for this...and ready to attack these two.

Make sure I have this right: people are attempting to take the word of someone who admittedly "doesn't remember?"

The guy who first made these allegations has now recanted his story. A "co-pilot" friend of Bush's said he was there. Why isn't this enough?

I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influenceB.S. He was the son of a Congressman that no one outside of his district would know.

Stand-by..........this will be headline NEWS all weekend!!! The RATS with their butt-kissing media/press sycophants are masters at keeping a NON story alive and well and at the same time keep THEIR OWN dirty laundry free from scrutiny. Amazing to watch, but frustrating as hell.

Wouldn't do a bit of good to go check their voting records here. The local rats pride themselves on keeping the voter registration office more messy than my room was when I was growing up (and my room was called the Black Hole....)
And, for anyone who is interested, The Memphis Flyer is only slightly left of JFK. (*Kerry, that is...*)

Everything he knows about Bush's background now, he knew in 2000. I ain't buyin' it.Exactly! All of this was known in 2000. With all of the problems we face in this country and the world, to be debating this is mind numbing. Most sane people would think that after 8 years of X42, the debate about military service would be a low priority.

Where to start? OK how about here for context.
Our fathers were poor dirt farmers. We would not have been given the same considerations he and his father were, says Bishop, who maintains that the senior Bush used family and political influence during World War Two to jump himself into naval pilot training ahead of 500 other applicants. I applaud him for volunteering, but he should have waited his turn like everybody else.
The senior Bush was the youngest pilot to fly in WW2 and was shot down in the Pacific. This morons questioning George HW Bush's service to his country gives us an idea where this dirt farming moron is coming from.
Secondly, Bush would have never flown in Alabama since they were flying jets that Bush wasn't trained to fly.
Third, these are idiots who voted for Al Gore.
There's more but I'll give somebody else a chance.

never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, Already proved that he did. These two's credibility declining rapidly.
To: syriacus
Would he consider voting for the presidents reelection? Naw, this goes to an integrity issue. I like either [John] Kerry or [John] Edwards better. And who would Mintz be voting for? Not for any Texas politicians, was the Memphians sardonic answer.Gee...a democrap. What a surprise!
