A SEX scandal is threatening to sink John Kerrys bid for the US presidency.
Campaign sources revealed that a probe is underway into claims the Democrat front-runner had a relationship with a young girl aide.
Vietnam war hero Kerry, 60 dubbed the new JFK was on the verge of sealing the Democratic nomination to take on George Bush head to head in November.
But the revelation of the scandal on the Drudge Report website which broke President Bill Clintons affair with intern Monica Lewinsky has thrown the race open again.
The girl involved used to work for a news agency and recently fled the US amid rumours of an affair reportedly on Kerrys orders.
One of Kerrys former rivals for the Democratic nomination, General Wesley Clark, had stunned reporters earlier this week by saying in an off-the-record briefing: Kerry will implode over an intern issue.
The source of the story was said to be Clarks press chief Chris Lehane, who worked for Kerry before switching sides. Another Kerry rival, Howard Dean, has reversed his decision to quit the race because of the scandal.
Washington political analyst Craig Crawford said the relationship between Kerry and the intern was a reason why Al Gore shunned Kerry as a running mate in the 2000 election against Mr Bush.
Twice-married Kerry was believed to be relaxing with his wife Teresa, heiress with a £350million fortune, last night as his aides tried to deal with the crisis.
Affairs of presidents
EXTRA-marital affairs have a long tradition among occupants of the White House.
John F Kennedy is the most famous presidential philanderer. He had affairs with actresses Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Kim Novak and Angie Dickinson.
Bill Clinton was caught lying when he denied having sex with intern Monica Lewinsky. He was ridiculed when she gave details of their lovelife and Clinton narrowly avoided being thrown out.
Wartime president Franklin D Roosevelt was forced to abandon mistress Lucy Mercer after his wife Eleanor threatened divorce.
The third president Thomas Jefferson had a 40-year affair with slave Sally Hemings.
And Dwight Eisenhower had one with his secretary Kay Summersby.

Both of these have been exposed as lies. But that doesn't keep them from repeating them.
They're included so people don't observe that it's the Dims who are consistently unfaithful.

I listened to O'Reilly on the radio and then saw his show on tv. He will not discuss this scandal, and is busy muzzling all talk of Kerry's post Vietnam activities. It's all to be excused because Kerry had just been through a "traumatic experience." Give me a break! What does he think the presidency involves, no pressure? Meanwhile, he put a "professor" on the radio who pretended Bush is "handling" the guard thing poorly, whereas Kerry is handling the Jane Fonda stories just fine. And the intern story is "awful" and should be avoided. O'Reilly couldn't gobble it up soon enough. His solution? Bush should agree not to discuss Kerry's past and vica versa!

The third president Thomas Jefferson had a 40-year affair with slave Sally Hemings. There is utterly no proof of this but it has become an article of faith among the libs and the press.
Add this guy Brian Flynn to the list of politically motivated liars. He was sure quick to get the Kerry camp's "everybody does it" talking points into print, though, wasn't he? Good doggie, Brian. Good lap dog.

The difference between now with Kerry and before with Kennedy and Clintoon is the Internet (thanks Owl Bore). The mainstream media REFUSED to print any stories about Kennedy's and Clintoon's sexual escapades. In the last 10-15 years, the media is finally admitting that Kennedy was a "slam bam thank you ma'am" pervert. Considering that Kennedy was Clintoon's mentor, now we know why. But did the mainstream press in 1992 focus on Clintoon's character? No, absolutely NOT. When the elder President Bush kept saying to look at Clintoon's lack of character and lack of morals, not one member of the mainstream press did an investigation. As a result, we had the worse president and 1st lady in our history for 8 miserable years. It took mainstream media to finally in the middle of clintoon's 2nd term to focus on the outbreak of repeated clintoonian affairs. However, now the internet is going strong and the American public can get the news and judge for themselves what type of character they want for the presidency. We are no longer under the mind control and mercy of CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, etc.

"EXTRA-marital affairs have a long tradition among occupants of the White House."
It is obvious that the author is already defending Kerry by citing examples of behavior of past presidents. Perhaps he thinks this makes Kerry one of the guys. And, by the way, there has never been definitive proof about Sommersby and Hemings.

How ironic...so obvious that the man is a traitor, disrespected our military and probably contributed to putting our Vietnam troops in harms way.... but this indiscretion may be his demise. Amazing....

"The third president Thomas Jefferson had a 40-year affair with slave Sally Hemings."
Pretty well disproven, which was ignored by the media.
Instead, the media rushed out a lame little TV Movie to support the mythical affair.
DNA showed that "some one" from his family had a relationship with some slaves, but there is NO real evidence to point out EXACTLY who!
As I recall there were over twenty Jefferson males in residence at his family home at the time.

Exactly. They had to throw in a Republican so the article didn't look too lopsided, when in reality, it was VERY lopsided. John F. Kennedy, Clinton, Condit, Teddy (the Swimmer) Kennedy, Johnson, JeffinKerry, Gary Hart (catch me if you can), Inouye, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jefferson. . .all Democrats (although not all were Presidential candidates, I admit). Whatever the criticisms people may have about Republicans, it is NOT that they don't know how to keep their pants zipped, which is a judgment issue for the other side.
Another thing that has been bothering me is that I've yet to see the justification for Kerry getting communion when his annulment from the first heiress was refused. I'm not Catholic, but I understood this was a big no-no.

OReilly is really beginning to make me wretch. His phony crap about both sides calling a truce is laughable. He makes his living doing just the opposite. When he sees an issue in the news he disagrees with, he attacks it head on. No truce ever. Whether it's his book sales vs Hillarys or Frankens. Or Jesses taxes etc. What an obvious hypocrite he is becoming.

The "proof" I've seen paraded out on Jefferson and Hemings consisted of something like this:
- Hemings was young and beautiful.
- Jefferson's wife died young.
- Jefferson was still virile when he was widowed.
- Jefferson had plenty of opportunity to be alone with Hemings.
- Therefore, they had an affair.
Meanwhile, even though Saddam had an army of scientists working on WMD, kicked out international inspectors who were to ensure he didn't get them and had a history of using WMD on his opponents, the inability to find a smoking WMD gun is proof positive that Saddam never had them. Kinda funny how the demented leftwing mind works, isn't it?

He's been told that he can't receive communion by the Archbishop of Boston because of his abortion stand. He's asked the Church for an annulment of his first marriage but that's kind of moot in view of the above.

Not quite true on several counts. One, they were married in a civil ceremony before they asked for an annulment. Two, it's not clear that they have gotten an annulment.

Is it me, or does there seem to be a lack of substantiating details to this 'scandal'? There's no "there" there, yet. So far, it's much ado about...not much.
Kerry wanted her to work for him a few years back. So far, that's all they've got? What's the big deal?
Don't get me wrong, I certainly doubt Kerry is above horndogging and philandering. I just think it's premature to try to create some big ruckus over something that hasn't even been verified. Let's wait until we have some dates and times, at least, before we go nuts.
