Best Unbiased Weekly News Magazine
Ruiner

Posted on 02/18/2004 9:56:25 AM PST by ruiner

Can anyone recommend a good weekly current events publication. I'm looking for something along the lines of Time, but preferable a little less biased.

Sorry for the vanity and thanks in advance for any responses.

I appreciate all the responses. I'll be sure to check those out.

I really was most interested in avoiding magazines with cover stories a la Time's, "Why GW Bush Wants to Eat Your Children" etc etc.

I stopped reading the Economist several years ago
when they began their turn to the left.

They aren't even reliably economic conservatives any more.

They are strong supporters of the homosexual lobby
and they even had a cover story a while back
praising Canadian society.

Enough said.

WORLD is biased to a Christian worldview.

I recommend it.

I have that advantage right here on FR.

Me, too. Sometimes I get confused about exactly when I heard/read something.

I don't believe Hustler is weekly.

The only completely reliable magazine is The Onion, but they are fairly biased.

US News And World Report.

Yeah, I agree with you.
It's the only news magazine my barber will carry and so I get to read it once every 4 months. I have noticed that it is not nearly as left-wing as TIME or Newsweek.

My impression is that Time has a decided liberal bias. Newsweek tries to be everybodies everything and displays both liberal and conservatives biases simultaneously and thus thinks that splitting the difference is objectivity.

Only USNWR attempts to be legitimately objective. It is an impossible task but I applaud their effort. The downside of striving to be objective is USNWR is a bit stodgy and pedestrian. Kinda like " Your Grandpa's News"

I would remind folks that the query was about an " unbiased" general news magazine. If you are recommending a news mag that you consistently agree with then that is prima facie evidence of bias and doesn't quite answer the query does it?

For those of you who cited " Insight" as an example of " unbiased news" then you won't have any objection to some liberal citing Salon magazine as "unbiased". Neither magazine even gives the slightest nod to objectivity.
