Please join the thousands of people from around the world who have signed the Petition to Georgetown University: Stop Aborted Fetal Cell Line Research.

Many people from all walks of life do not share in the Georgetown belief that this is morally acceptable. The signatures come from prominent organizations, scientists, medical professionals, professors, researchers, alumni, students, parents and members of the clergy and religious life. Clearly it seems that Georgetown is out of touch with what many faithful people believe.

The petition is open to all, not just Catholics. This transcends Religious affiliation. It is a matter of basic human dignity and decency.

Here is more proof that Embryonic Stem Cell Research is unnecessary. There are MANY legitimate sources for stem cells. The only ones who INSIST on murdered babies as a "source" are ghouls!

Children treated with stem cells
By Ania Lichtarowicz
BBC health correspondent

Researchers in the US say they have been using stem cells to successfully treat genetic diseases in children.
The doctors told a conference that cells taken from umbilical cord blood can turn into healthy heart cells, for instance, and repair damaged tissue.

The research suggests many childhood disorders such as leukaemia can be treated in this method.

For scientists, this confirms what laboratory tests have long suggested - stem cell treatment works in the body.

Researchers at Duke University have been using cord blood to treat children with rare diseases affecting the heart, liver and brain, but until now have been unsure as to why their treatment was successful.

Umbilical cord blood contains a small amount of stem cells, which many scientists believe could be used to grow into new healthy tissue.

Cell potential

Many scientists have already done this in the lab, but this is the first time they have found evidence that it is happening in the body.

They discovered that the stem cells can enter damaged heart tissue and transform themselves into healthy heart cells, so preventing further damage.

As stem cell research develops, scientists are seeing more and more potential in using stem cells collected at birth.

The National Health Service in the UK has recently invested large amounts of money into storing cord blood from newborn babies, and a number of private companies in the US and Europe are also offering cord blood storage services.

These stem cells would work best in the child that they came from.

However, because cord blood is very clean, the cells could also be effective in other children - and one day, even adults.

I wonder, would Americans balk if the AMA (or Georgetown research) began terminating alive individuals already living their individual lifetime in order to harvest the body parts for treating the sick, without even proving that the process would work? Would that be cannibalism? ... No doubt about it, and to conceive individual human organisms precisely for harvesting their body parts is where this 'research' stands. It is good this is getting exposed.

Let's hope the shame starts to get to some of them and they come back to their senses.

Remember, "to instruct the ignorant" and "admonish sinners" are spiritual works of mercy, as we learned in catechism. You think they still teach those at Georgetown? [irony] What are the chances of that? Any guesses? Any students surfing here?
