Thanks, everyone, for your sympathy. I need to go if I ever want to get my makeup on...and I didn't mean to turn this thread into something about me and my dog.
I feel so bad for the Bush family. I know exactly what they're going through.
(And if you have a dog, or if you have several, please - for me - give them hugs right now, and tell them how much they mean to you.)
See you guys later.

How incredibly sad... :(

If my memory serves me correctly, Spot was named after Scott Fletcher, who played for the Rangers.
They just adjusted the name a little for doggy purposes.
I think it was Barbara and Jenna's idea, and they would have been 7 years old at the time. :o)

So much formality looks out of place with a dog around... Nah - a good dog just puts everything in perspective.

Sadly, the last time Spot was seen on TV he was barely able to walk. Thought at the time it would be a mercy to allow the dog to pass.

I just re-read my post and I meant to say that Fletcher was my maiden name, not middle name. Neat that the daughters named Spot.

A DOG'S PRAYERTreat me kindly my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should ignore your cruelty, your patience and understaning will more quickly teach me thethings you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the worlds sweetest music as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.
Feed and water me so that I may stay well to romp and play and to amuse you with my antics. It is then that I shall curl up warmly on your lap and sound my contentment to the world.
And my friend, when I am very old and no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently, I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always saftest in your hands.
