Well I apologize too, recognizing that I am super sensitive to the abuse of "pets"...which I have witness all too often.
And I agree with your comment about "irresponsible" breeders.
I suspect you chose your dogs for guarding or herding purposes, and if I am wrong I apologize.
This latestet one I adopted, we (vets and groomer) have no definitive idea what she is...we suspect she's part poodle and terrier or springer...
...but whatever she is, she is very intelligent, a fast learner, and very gentle, yet protective of my niece and nephew (5 and 3). She also acts as a companion for my 77 y/o mother who was quite devasted when old age caught up to our Miss Minnie.
Good luck to you in your venture with your dog(s) in the future GE.

I almost put this up last night, but it made me teary just to think about my old lab mix that passed away three years ago next month. The vet sent the following to me after it was all over; I haven't seen this posted yet so thought it would address the fact that their lives are more temporary than ours:
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan...
