February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

OPINION:

When one's back is to the (cave) wall; one may say or do anything. Threats are a great PsyOps tool and Al-Zawahiri knows that -- hence another tape release.

As for "daleel" and friends playing on their computers; don't pay attention to that Liz. It's meaningless jihadi-type chicken manure.

What I'm trying to evaluate is, can we all start to breathe a little easier?
Can we begin to feel that we are winning?

Yes exhale but stay wary

Yes and No. No because they are going to sneak something in and our border's will entice them.

I'm familiar with how they are built. I have to work inside them from time to time. In that case, the intent is to keep signals inside, not to exclude them from outside. We use Tempest devices inside with fiber optic networks to limit radiation. The Tempest version of a Sun SPARC II was running almost $20,000 in 1991. Certified and tested shielding drastically increases the cost of a device.

Air Marshals Get Extra Help Policing the Skies

{Sure, take our already spread thin Immigration Agents!}

Tuesday, February 24, 2004

WASHINGTON — With limited resources and thousands of flights with which to concern themselves each day, the Department of Homeland Security (search) has taken an unusual step to protect travelers flying the skies.

The government announced Tuesday that it has decided to recruit Secret Service (search) and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (search) officers to share air marshal duties while those agents are already flying as part of their normal course of business.

Isn't Tempest used to detect CRT emissions and demodulate them so that you can remotely view the display? If so, then wouldn't LCD technology eliminate the risk of Tempest detection?

WEST NILE VIRUS, HUMAN DEATH - USA (NORTH CAROLINA)

North Carolina: Death of Youth Infected in September 2003

A 14-year-old North Carolina youth who suffered from leukemia has died from
West Nile Virus infection that he contracted in September 2003, state
health officials said on Mon 23 Feb 2004. A resident of Kill Devil Hills
who suffered from acute lymphatic leukemia when he was diagnosed with West
Nile virus infection died on 19 Jan 2004. Chemotherapy had weakened his
immune system, making him more susceptible to the effects of West Nile
virus infection, health officials said.

The youth, who would have turned 15 on [Mon?]day, was eulogized earlier
this month during the National West Nile Conference by Dr. Lyle Petersen,
director of the vector-borne infectious disease section of the Centers for
Disease Control. Petersen told West Nile virus experts from across the
country that the youth's passing put a "human face" on the disease. He
emphasized that the disease must be taken seriously and vigorously
controlled in order to prevent future tragedies.

During 2003, 22 North Carolinians were infected with West Nile virus and 2
of them died. 2 other people were diagnosed with West Nile virus infection
in North Carolina, but they were infected in another state. The other North
Carolina fatality was an elderly Davie County man who also had a weakened
immune system.

Mosquitoes transmit the virus, and wild birds serve as natural hosts for
it. Mosquitoes bite the birds and then can transmit the viruses to humans
and animals. A person can't catch the diseases from another person or an
infected animal.

Has there been an attack since al qaeda's other audiotape release, I think it was around Christmas? I think that al qaeda changed their MO recently or attacks were averted.
