Montgomery County (MD) cable provider, Comcast, is dropping FoxNews from its Basic Service as of March 1. To get "fair and balanced" news coverage in this area, it will cost an additional charge of $32.22/month. Let Comcast Cable (P O Box 17461, Baltimore, MD 21297) know you want FoxNews to remain on Basic Service.

Well, that's one way of insuring that the mushrooms get properly fed and not too much light.

That's because FOX is in such demand. It's a way the cable company can make more money. They'll get it, too.

Dish Network charges more for FOX, and people still pay for it.

FOX is getting huge!

Additional?? Time to consider DishNetwork. Perfect clarity (blows cable away), already has HDTV capability, plus you get the Tivo player and installation for only $99.

I would guess that Comcast realizes that people want Fox, thus Fox is a possible revenue stream, as people will pay extra for Fox. This means an extra $'X' revenue gain from those who pay the upgrade because Fox is there. However, if people drop cable entirely and make the switch to satelite; Comcast will suffer dearly.

Is that just in Maryland or all Comcast customers? Wonder if this isn't just a pre-election plot.

Sounds like comcast is gearing up to put Kerry in office.

I dont live in the area, but if I did, I'd probably drop ALL cable programming that they provide just "because".

We have two cable providers in my area, so there is competition enough to enable me to do this without missing out on TV entirely (like that would be so bad.

The people in Montgomery County may not have this option, but cancels along with e-mails could help.

For almost 25 years I never even thought about my cable company. Then last year ComCast bought out AT&T and all of sudden there's nothing but problems...billing problems, reception problems, stations being added or dropped willy nilly. It's almost not worth the hassle.

I would threaten Comcast with moving to a dish since it would be cheaper to get Fox and many other clearer channels from a dish if they move Fox out of basic.

PS: I have Comcast and nothing is basic here near Los Angeles. You pay extra for all the cable news channels.

Must be because everyone wants to see FNC and Comcast sees a way to make more money.

I bet this burns the butts of the leftists - people demanding to watch news that isn't leftward slanted.

Tell Comcast to pound sand. Get DirecTV or Dish Network for better quality, lower price, and FOX in the basic package.

DISH network does the same. I'd rather pay ala carte for the 12 channels or so that I like. Unfortunately we have to pay to support the crappy channels.

You can either do that or simply get a satellite dish from Direct TV or the Dish Network, both of which offer Fox News.
