Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Republicans control both houses of the Texas legislature, as well as the governorship, and all state-wide offices?

They could put a stop to this if they had the courage to do so.

Yes, these regents are Republican (Bush-Perry) appointees at Texas Tech.

However, the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed in the 2003 University of MI Law School case that institutions could use affirmative action for purposes of "diversity," in the words of the eminent AZ-born Sandra Day O'Connor. So, institutions in TX are bending over backwards for "outreach" and sometimes "quotas" in admission.

I guess all public-funded institutions are liberal regardless of where they are situated.
