Hollywood Bosses Vow to Destroy Gibson
Newsmax ^ | 2/26/04

I won't hire him. I won't support anything he's part of."

So says a chairman of major Hollywood studio quoted today by the New York Times in its latest attack on Mel Gibson and "The Passion of the Christ."

Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, who along with Steven Spielberg are the big cheeses at the powerful DreamWorks, and who just happen to be Democrat activists, are angry about the movie, according to the Times. And the chairmen of two other big studios say they won't work with Gibson.

"Amid the daily dealings of Hollywood, the film and the star have been fodder for unfavorable gossip. Dustin Hoffman has talked to friends about what he called Mr. Gibson's 'strangeness' during the ABC interview. The producer Mike Medavoy said Mr. Gibson's religious zealotry made him feel uncomfortable," the Times fretted.

'Antichrist' Welcome

Others, however, think Tinseltown's notorious avarice will rule in the end.

"If the movie works, I don't think it will hurt him. People here will work with the Antichrist if he'll put butts in seats," said John Lesher, an agent with Endeavor.

And the wallet-packing butts are there. The $30 million movie made up to $20 million or more on its debut Wednesday, Box Office Mojo estimated today.

The Associated Press today estimated Wednesday's take at more than $20 million, with a total so far of up to $26 million including previews Monday and Tuesday.

Jam 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Jam 5:17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

I am praying for rain.

The big Democrat (Jew) activist producers can make Schindler's List and demonize Germany with 10X the violence and hatred. Murder and mayhem for profit but not for soul searching.

Demonizing the Nazis. Imagine that! How unfair!

Mel Gibson stands to profit mightily from his film. It's called show BUSINESS, and he's a part of it.

If it hasn't been said already - start a national boycott of Dreamworks. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Perhaps Mel will start a film studio in Branson.

This film could catapult Gibson to a George Lucas-like level. A new "Gibsonfilm" studio could prove a deadly rival to Dreamworks, so they are trying to squash him before he makes a billion dollars and joins their ranks.

These are the same people who howled their heads off about "censorship" when Middle America declined to watch "The Last Temptation of Christ." Maybe if Mel had shown Jesus getting laid, it would have suited them better.

I am a wuss and cannot stand to see stories about violence done to even animals. (Although I am a strong supporter of the death penalty and love movies where the bad guys get what is coming to them.) I don't know that I want to see the movie because of the violence depicted, but I will gladly buy a couple tickets and donate them to someone who wants to see it but doesn't have the money to spend. Perhaps FR needs to get behind such an effort for a worthy cause.

Indeed, it is from the political left where the chill wind blows. We boycott movies as individuals because we don't want to see our money support people like Julia Roberts who publicly says we are in the dictionary between reptile and repugnant. They are the ones who create the blacklist at the top to try to destroy someone's career.

These guys would have jumped at the chance to make the movie if Christ had dropped the F-bomb while hanging on the cross.

And they would have chastised anyone who took exception to it as a Neanderthal who did not understand art.

There's an old Hollywood joke about Mike Ovitz who used to be the most powerful agent in Hollywood (since has been banished and is making a comeback):

The devil walks into Mike Ovitz's office and says.....Mr. Ovitz, if you give me your soul....I will make you rich and powerful beyond your wildest dreams!!! Mike Ovitz says, 'What's the catch?'

As a matter of fact....I will make it a point to see ALL of Mel Gibson's movies...past, present and future. I don't give a rat's ass what Dreamworks does.

It occurs to me however, that Dreamworks is burning bridges re: Gibson future movies......and may cause potential investors to re-evaluate investing in Dreamworks since the Dreamworks muckety-mucks are so short sighted as to let idealogy get in the way of business.

And he'll make back the production budget by Saturday. Then things will just keep going.

And at that point, there's going to be hell to pay. Because if they try to blacklist Mel Gibson, he just might name names.

Dreamworks has too much money to be hurt. I hope Gibson's movie does 1 billion worldwide. That would really piss SKG off:)
