It is hate spam.
The trolls are zotted before you can even reply, most of the time.
If they are not, the reply is used to hammer you again with another thread.

I've never bothered to reply, but most times the troll has been zotted before I ever see it. And I certainly wouldn't bother to reply. Anyone who spams a group with a political message is not interested in anything other than spreading propaganda.
If I get a freepmail from an unfamiliar name on a thread I've never even seen, it's deleted without opening it. Takes about 3 seconds.
