Due to the overwhelming interest, we thought one official review thread would be much better than hundreds of individual threads. This might even turn out to be the "Passion of the Christ" daily thread, which would provide a place for everyone to discuss the topic without fragmentation. If some freeper(s) would like take over the maintences of new threads, that would be perfect.

Some of you who have already started review threads might want to post a link here to your thread

Good idea doing this daily thread thing. :-)
My wife and mother-in-law went last night.
I just asked my wife how it was?
She said "Excellent!" .

I have tickets (church group) for Saturday. Would it be irreverent to buy popcorn?

Would it be irreverent to buy popcorn?I'd recommend eating your popcorn before the film; you won't feel like it during (or after).
It's a brilliant, visionary, intense, astonishing work of art. A benchmark.

Buy the popcorn to help support the theater that is running the movie (most of their profit comes from concessions, or so I am told) Don't plan on touching a single kernel once the movie begins. Very emotionally wrenching film. Many gasps and even wails from members of the audience (I saw the movie with my wife and 25y/o daughter last night) There were few (if any) dry eyes in the audience as the final scene ended.

It would be if you bought it with that vile yellow grease they pour on it.

Thank you for this thread!
This movie is becoming a rallying point for all people of Christ. I would like to make it very clear that this is not only a movie for all Christians, but for all people.
While we celebrate our Lord, we should try to understand some of the fears and concerns other's may have. Don't forget that Jesus commands us to love not only those who love Him and those who love us, but to love everyone. Even though it's difficult at times, we must do this.
I realize that I'm not really one to talk, but if He can be humilated, tortured and nailed to a cross and while on that cross forgive those who just put Him there, we can forgive each other when we do stupid things. That is one of Christ's great lesson, is how to love throught the pain and returning pain with kindness. Love is a verb,
One thing I've noticed is that many people have started to ask questions about Mel's religion, his Catholicism and how he worships.
Traditional Catholics come in many stripes, but what most of us share is the desire to worship according to the ancient rite which for the most part stayed very much the same for many centuries. There is a movement within our church to keep this alive, as many on the left want to see it stomped into oblivion.
Again I want to stress that this is not a Catholic, tradidtional Catholic, or even just a Christian movie. Mel himself has made that clear. This being said, if anyone has questions concerning traditional Catholicism you can go to my profile page or FReepmail me and I will be happy to tell you more about and answer any questions that you may have. I will make any attempt to answer your questions to the point of personal contact if need be.
I've also set up a basic website with links to other information at http://www.angelqueen.org/ that may help get you started.
May God bless you all and may the great light of our Lord Jesus be with you and yours forever.

Does the movie end with just the crucifixion or does it depict the resurrection?
To: bayourod
A lot of people were munching on pop corn before the movie but once it started I was in a trance and am not sure what went on around me.
I passed on the corn since I had just scarfed down a "Clint Eastwood" dog (1/4 pound dog with brown mustard and kraut).
It was a very powerful experience and a must see.

Buy the popcorn to support the movie theatre for having the guts to show the movie.
No profits, no future showings of controvertial pictures.
