I didn't see CO mentioned. We have several possible losses to contend with. It is for this reason we must GOTV for Bush. Momentum and coattails matter.

$30,000 a year is a low paying job to you. For most citizens of the respective states it's not.

How do you figure that Arkansas could be a RAT pickup....we're already completely RAT dominated. We do, however, have an excellent Republican candidate, a current state senator, Jim Holt, who is going after the Republican nomination. There are 2 others in the running. Arkansas FReepers are very much behind him and he will pull in the conservative vote easily if he gets the nomination, and the best part is that he would give us a real choice against Blanche Lincoln.

Oops...I misread your post. I see that you posted Alaska not Arkansas.

Oh, also, about Jim Holt....he has recently joined Free Republic.

U.S. Senate South Dakota
Giago's independent run expected to remodel race
Excerpted from the Argus Leader; March 30, 2004
Tim Giago now plans to run as an independent for the U.S. Senate,
a move expected to change the complexion of a South Dakota race
full of national implications.

Giago, of Rapid City, publisher of the Lakota Journal,
had planned to challenge Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle
in the June 1 Democratic Party primary,
with the winner to face Republican John Thune in November.

But Giago said switching his effort to the fall gives him more time
to get petitions signed and gives him a greater forum
for discussion of Native American issues.

Many of these races will depend on whether the Bush-Kerry race is close or not.

That said, I agree 100% with the optimists.

1. Bush coattails can help us -- along with the right candidates -- pick up the vacant seats in GA, SC, FL, and NC. Burr in NC is an exceptionally good candidate.

2. LA is definitely in play.

3. Daschle is vulnerable in SD.

4. We will pick off either Murray (WA), Boxer (CA) or Reid (NV). As of this writing, Boxer of the three is the most vulnerable.

5. Alaska and Illinois are both firming in our direction.

6. Pennsylvania will be in play if Specter loses his primary.

7. Haven't heard about holding Colorado. We'll be OK in Oklahoma.

Bottom line = 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 -1 (IL) = net pick up of 6
